Post your firearms collection!

hehe, if the $200 is the part you think is costly then you definately do need to stick to flares though the training rounds are only about $6 each and no stamp. but not made for 37mm because that is a "flare and signalling" gun so you don't need to train aiming LOL. Actually the most expensive part is keeping the proper explosive handling licenses and don't get me started on the stupidity that our government calls the laws on reloading as long as you don't go over 1/4 oz (including the propellant charge) you are good to go with no stamp. Anyways. They make the entire thing a major headache in the attempt to scare people off. Then they also have the whole thing wrapped up in the "non-sporting" clause so they technically can get a 37mm launcher as a DD if that person makes a small mistake in calculations. Some of the most complex and circuitous laws in the world second only to the US tax code and perhaps now rivaled by the ACA.

Have fun but be very very careful to follow all the rules in your country/state/municipality.

And dont forget to register your potato gun with the BATFE if you made it yourself;)

LOL on that note, I had an interesting argument wiht a guy who thought he could put his 40mm HEDP grenades on a form1. Then claimed he could reload them himself classifying it is "repair". I told him to make sure and get a nice signed letter from his favorite BATFE representative if that was the case. Never did hear about him again. Now, the folks dealing with 40mm HE rounds in the US are a pretty small group. We pretty much all know each other (or at least OF) so not hearing probably means he never followed through. Which is probably a good thing... Or I suppose he could have just blown himself up?

LOL J.W., Hubby usually just rolls his eyes about this point and wonders out loud if there is any prozac on the shopping list ;)

Usually taking a box of trainers and trying to drop em through the sunroof of the target car so the chalk billows out the windows helps a LOT!!

So... Umm Canadian... How your Kidney stones? all gone now I hope?

I used to shoot the popup silhouettes off the mechanism during livefires. Range control haaaaaaated me...
Managed to get 2 opened but full cases on a live fire range that nobody else but one of my fire team wanted to shoot...we were herding chickens around the range with TPT rounds at 200m...

Maybe we should start a new thread "Post your explosives collection"? We could start by makin tater tots!

I have always wanted a sweet grenade launcher, that is very awesome--- also this thread is cool

LoL Gehazi, Glad you are enjoying. I didn't get a chance to carry one in the Army (they always issued them to the big male enlisted folks not us female officer types) But did get a chance to fire them regularly at the range. So when I had a chance to get one hubby was smart enough to just ask what he needed to do to help.

JW, I was laughing myself silly with the mental image of the little orange-yellow powder puff, then the chickens running and poof another one in front of them... LOL. Was this about 1974? Probably old M407A's they were getting rid of since those were replaced with M781s.

It was 2001-live fire range near (i think) Mitrovica in Kosovo. Old Yugo army range. Hence the livestock...
Lotsa UXO's, lotsa chickens.

Not good I get to wait until April 11th to get it blasted... I'll survive...

On a brighter note my uh.. I dunno if it's a Kukri or kukri like object... Should arrive early next week!

LOL JW, ok then 781's only by that timeframe. LOL, I was out a decade before that so I am pretty sure we used up all the old 407A's long before that timeframe. But it still does make me laugh at the mental image... POOF!!!SQUAK!!!POOF!!

Sorry to hear that the wait is so long Canadian. Hope they gave you enough pain meds for when it is acting up. Miserable wait I imagine.
Next week? Hmm I forgot if you mentioned it before, which one did you get? I am sure if you got it here it is a true Khuk. Even the non-HI ones they sell are still awesome quality, I have a couple as well as a few true HI's and without a program it is tough to tell the players apart. It can be done, but it is tough.

I couldn't afford to buy it from here or I would have. Mine is from another company..

I WANT a Chiruwa Ang Khola but I can't afford to pay $200 + shipping for it.. I know deal of the day and blems can be gotten cheaper but I rarely see a dotd that calls to me and don't have the skills to fix a blem. Plus sometimes they come without the sheath or without the karda and chakma (which I'd like as well)

I love the grip on mine...

Awesome Canadian. Have to admit that the handle on that is a bit too American bowie for my tastes, I prefer a closer to traditional (though American hand sized) grip. But that is the great thing about knives what is perfect for one person isn't another person's thing. Fortunately there is no end of shapes, sizes and styles so we can all get exactly what we love.

As for the DotD blems from HI. Don't let the small cracks in the handle concern you. From what I understand the fix is a bit of sandpaper and some super glue and a toothpick. Use the toothpick to fill the crack. sand around it to create wood dust, pack the wood dust into the glue and let dry. Sand smooth and DONE!!
I am sure the guys here would be able to provide more detailed help if needed.
So if a DotD strikes your fancy but it has a small crack I shouldn't think you should let that keep you from getting it.

True Shav. Some hairline cracks in horn simply disappear when you condition them. I have a few ive gone back to repair later and couldnt find them.

I'm happy with it, the "fit and finish" isn't great but it's great for a camp knife, it's really thick and looking at this knife makes me regret ever having asked if anyone's broke a Chiruwa Ang Khola lol...

Mine is made from 5160 steel, I dunno if that's good steel or not but I feel invincible holding it... Much like the first time I held a gun... That picture above doesn't do it justice... The grip was what called to me...

Hehe, Old enough that I never feel invincible anymore. But I do remember that feeling. It is a great one to have, just so long as you don't believe it for too long.

5160 steel is a great steel for a big brute chopper like yours and depending on how it is hardened could get high enough RC numbers it will sharpen up pretty well but if left lower RC then should be very tough. However take care of it and maintain it well or it will rust.

The 5160 comes from leaf springs, same stuff HI uses. I have a similar khuk by that company and my sentiments are pretty much the same as yours, Canadian. F&F is not as nice as my HIs and it isn't highly polished, but it's a solid knife. Mine has the finger guard as well and while it gives some confidence against fingers slipping onto the blade, I found it also gets in the way sometimes when chopping.
