Practice

621, brother. I'm definitely in. Great project. Sounds like a fun and inexpensive way to learn how to do your own mods. I applaud you.

Thanks Gatman!

Okay, so I got home after a 15 hour day at work and decided it would be a good time to open my new belts.

I went at it for a while and worked up to the 180 or whatever it is and I said screw this. I want to do something different.

I went upstairs and got out a sharpy:

I tried with a hacksaw but I just nicked up the blade. Got out a dremel and I mean I took over an hour to cut this off and make sure I did it so slow it didn't get hot. If I messed it up, sorry, it is still free:D

here is what I came up with after the 40 grit belt:

A few things I found, I can't do this with the edge leading because as you can see I hit the spine on the sides. I think that is the only way I see the angle is with the edge trailing and looking at the gap between the spine and the belt:confused:

Anyhow, go ahead and laugh:p I know it is silly looking, but I don't care. I am having a lot of fun. And the handle turned out to be really cool with the new blade length.

Buffing compounds do not come until next monday says FEDEX>

Up at 0400, later guys and thanks for anymore suggestions you may have to fix this mess I made:)

Actually....I really like it!!! It's got personality now!

Way to go out on a limb and have fun while familiarizing yourself with your new equipment!!!

Stump

oh....and congrats Wayne!!!

Okay, forget it, resinguy gets it:D

It is the sharpest bread knife I have ever used:p

Just kidding. I am going to try more stuff with it before it gets sent to Foo. I promise I will start over if I grind it down to nothing.

Thanks for the generous comments.

I'm starting to think you just like seeing the sparks fly! :D :p

Can you post a pic of the whole knife (or whats left of it. :D)
Not sure it needs more late night grinding episodes. :p

But... even if you take it down to the nub...
I could still have a good grafting blade. ;)

It is fun:D It was looking really great too. I cut off a tip that took me a good while to get where I wanted it:o (I can send that to you if you want:p

I can get up a pic of the whole thing later. I may just go for a nice little pumpkin carver by the end of it.

No worries... I'm just pokin' atcha. :p

Have fun with it and let's see where she goes.

Deal, but if you had a preference I would try to do it that way.

Either way it is more practice for me and a way to show my appreciation for this community:thumbup:

If you get a chance to post the full pic,
we'll see if something comes to me...

If not... it's all good. :)

Crappy pic but those are 1/4x11" G-10 slabs. with torx bolts and 1/4 SS standoff underneath, you would have to counter drill the slabs a bit but they fit up nicely.

Ron,

Where did you order the torx bolts and 1/4" standoffs from? I have been trying to buy some for a project and have either found none at the stores or they only sell them in batches of 1000 or more. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Steve
