Thanks for continuing to pray.

Still a waiting game with the swelling. Surgery is on for Tuesday.

Just got in from out of town... Guyon, Glad to hear there is some good progress! Sending good thoughts and prayers from Western Washington!

I'll continue to raise your family up in prayer Guyon. Terrible accidents like this are shocking, but we must strive to find the good in it. I am sure it has set us all to considering the brevity of life and how quickly things can go from normal to tumult. Be thankful for every minute you have and make the most of it. Guyon, your family was pretty tight before, I am sure this will only serve to strengthen the bonds between you all. God be with you all.

glad to hear he is improving. doctors can do more now with injuries like his compared to a few years ago. i hope things go even better as time goes on.

Prayers from Alaska. Life is a fragil thing, and we must learn to enjoy every moment. I broke my 3rd cervical back in 1982. The mental anguish and fear is hard to deal with. That's why you have to love the ones your with, and tell them so. --God Bless--

Still wishing you and yours the very best from Ole Virginia.

I'll be at the Agency all day tomorrow...but I'll be thinking of your first cousins' family! Sensation in the feet is definitely a good sign.

Update:

Surgery actually took place this morning, and the surgeon said it went well. He repaired the damaged vertebrae, and he reported no perforations (that he could see) in the spinal cord.

They've put a HALO brace on, and my cousin's husband is supposed to be taken by air ambulance to a spinal clinic near Atlanta this week if all goes well.

I don't think any additional feeling or mobility has come back yet. It's still a matter of wait and see with the swelling. According to my uncle, the quicker he recovers sensation and movement, the better the long-term prognosis.

What he does have going for him is that he's young (early 20s), in good shape, and in good health otherwise. The doctors said that the damage would have been much worse if he'd been out of shape.

Thanks to all for the continued well wishes.

We are all still pulling for him and his family. Please continue to post updates if possible. More prayers on the way...
