Based on the CAD I'm in as long as it's not a true scandi grind, which many Kepharts are (ones intended solely for bushcraft). I like the taller blade and the better/ more ergo take.

The Kephart design is pretty special to me - it represents all of the care of thought that Horace put into it. It is simple, yet subtle - and it plain works. I've been looking forward to a CPK version ever since I caught wind of it.

If a preorder isn't held, then I will do what I generally do not do and that is wade into the lolly scramble and hope that I come out on top.

It should be noted that the original Kephart never sported a scandi grind. Any knife that has being labeled as a Kephart that is in possession of a scandi grind, isn't a Kephart - in my opinion, of course. Horace's design was more in line with efficiency for hunting, rather than wood carving.

Right. Flat grind. And no guard on the blade, either.

That CAD image was an early concept.

After reading his book, I decided it was hubris for me to try to improve Horace Kephart's design for a Kephart knife. I've made plenty of my knives and knives developed in collaboration with some of the most talented and knowledgeable users and makers and I can legitimately say that I've done it "my way". So I'm going to make the Kephart his way and make a relatively faithful copy of the original design, just made with modern high performance materials and processes. But the design is Horace's. Some people don't like it because it isn't particularly attractive and the handle lacks some of the sculpting we enjoy today. But some people do like it because it works pretty well as a camping bushcraft knife.

Some people want an AR chambered in .300 AAC blackout while others (for whatever inexplicable reason) use a Marlin 30-30. I tend to lean towards modern high performance, but some of the old stuff was pretty good too. Especially in Delta 3V (which I think Horace would have appreciated)

While I am not a huge fan of the true Kephart I appreciate this sentiment Nathan. I have a safe full of Winchester 97's, 73's, Ruger Blackhawk's, Mosin Nagant M44's, 1911's and Springfield SOCOM Scout Squad's so my life is full of the classics and their modern interpretations

I'm probably out, I've tried a few Kepharts from different makers but never bond with them. The straight handle\lack of guard\ blade shape doesn't go well with my style of knife use. I'm sure I'll end up getting one anyway just because Nathan ;)
Knife most interested in: big camp knife (sleeker\pointier\sliceier\mountainmanier HDFK)

I love this. I might have to be in if I can find the $$$.

I’d love one with matte burlap scales and sand blasted titanium hardware to match my medium heavy chopper...

Please let me know when and where I can put a deposit down.

The KA-BAR Becker BK62 is a fairly accurate rendition of a Kephart as Ethan Becker owns an original...

It’s a really great knife and using it has taught me to appreciate the design. Compared to it, a CPK Kephart would be entirely next level! I’m psyched! :)
