Well, I had a big swing and a miss on my first go at the Nov. fire challenge last night.
I tried using an old stick of walnut that had been laying in my back yard for a year and a half.
It was just too rotten and punky to work with. Couldn't get it going...
Oh well. It was good practice if nothing else.

they wouldnt let you in the shop even if you did, they have a closed door policy. We have asked about buying from the shop in person but that is not an option.

yea I've heard that. everything about the guy and his business rubs me the wrong way. like I care if he quenches his magic steel in unicorn piss-and his claim on patents are just downright silly. he thinks he's God's gift to the knife industry. in my opinion a guy that can design a knife that will perform just about as good as one of those overpriced knives and be affordable to everyone is a huge success in the knife industry. thank you, Ethan. no offense, woody. I know you own quite a few of his blades. just not my style-to each his own, right?

Cuteness warning.

My son is doing a Christmas shoot with the proceeds going to an orphan ministry. This little girl was a little bit scared of Santa but HAD to tell him about the red purse she wants for Christmas.

Yea man no offense taken buddy!

I agree with this big time too! I have compared lots of knives but just dont post my comparisons, and unless you are abusing a knife you never NEED more than a 14 and a bk9 in my opinion.

But sometimes it is fun to abuse a blade and know you dont have to worry about it. Its not necessary though. I tell people that ask me for an honest opinion that unless you are collecting, or reselling the price is hard to justify for most Busse's when there are so many great knives out that perform wonderfully when used as they are designed to be used. Its the same as a BMW vs chevy, both will get you where you need to get, it just gets down to which one you will look better getting there in. Now swamp rats are GREAT value for what you get in my opinion, they are priced very well for the steel and scrapyard too, i just dont like res-c handles. but 52100/sr101 holds its edge like nothing i ever used, including Infi. But 1095 takes an edge very easily and can resharpen in the field a lot quicker. and still cut and chop anything you will ever need to cut and chop.

Its all about what you like really.

Don't be sad. Psyop will give you a hug.

A big cuddly fuzzy bear hug! :p

Wow! Page 13 already. Looks like I missed a hell of a party last night. You guys all snorting gun powder or what?
All is well, we all get a little crazy sometimes.

When the Going Gets Weird, the Weird Turn Pro.

the funny thing is I live about 20 minutes from where Busse knives are made and i have absolutely no desire to own any of them or meet their maker.

Say what you will... it's a fascinating business model, and it flat-out works. Not my cup of tea at all, but that dude is a stone-cold genius.

Went to the Goodwill thrift shop this morning.
Found this buried under a bunch of kitchen utensils.
I would have taken it home, but it was a little overpriced at $3.99.
Plus, I have enough large kitchen knives as it is....lol :D
Eh, maybe I'll go back and see if they'll haggle on the price.

Send it to me, I'll regrind it for you. Or is it supposed to look like that?

I agree. To listen to the proprietary heat treat shit is what gets me. I cant believe people buy into that spill. I have some proprietary processes here in my shop to. Murph rubs every knife on his testicles before there shipped out. That's right, sells should go up now! get in line folks! :D
I spoke with Jerry Busse on the phone before Blade, He invited me to his booth to have a drink with him. I got within about 50 ft from it and couldn't break through the circus clowns and mindless people that had to be told what was cool that wanted Jerry to father there children. I was afraid I was going to be made to drink coolaid so I turned around and went back to my table where there was people from this earth hanging out, maybe not as many, but that's fine with me.

Wait till you meet Ed Fowler and take a good long look at his knives. :D Don't even get me started on the quality of his grinds.

I knew someone here would get that reference! :)

Ed is a friend James, Ethan and he are buddies too, If I am not mistake. Hes a pip to talk with.

If you have seen Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, you should know who Hunter S. Thompson is :D

I read the book, the man is talented!!

Lol. I didn't mean to get anybody riled up over my Goodwill pic.
I was just trying to be funny.
I guess I could understand though. I've just always thought they were overpriced.
Didn't think I'd ever own one, but the opportunity arose to trade into one and I figured wth I'll give it a try.

As of now, there's only one guy on my list that won't get a cent from me. I have nothing against the guy personally, I don't know him. I just don't like the way he advertises his product. Chopping up denim clad dead pigs just doesn't make me want to help support his lifestyle. :D

is the bar that low?

Have you read this thread??? There is no "bar" LMAO

... But the pen i posted is still awesome sauce. Really its the acrylic on the pen that is awesome sauce, i can find better kits but that acrylic looks fantastic.

I'm pretty sure I saw those same pens for sale at the gas station down the street. Lol :D

It's so nice to be back to the normal snark-mode. Of course, normal in here is like a whole different definition of the word....
