Good stuff! The little lady presented me with a pack on my Birthday the other week. If you can scrounge up some, I recommend Bluegrass Brewing Co's Bourbon Barrel Stout.

I will keep my eyes open for that. Thank you.

This Ale was okay. But frankly it tasted a little weak. It seems I have been spoiled by the full bodied flavor of stouts. I like bourbon barrel stouts when I can find them, but they are a rare breed around here. My local beer store had some Dragon's Milk, but when I went to pick some up, they were out.

I agree. The one you pictured is the only kind we can find here. As far as the ales go, I prefer BBC's bourbon barrel ale to the Lexington Brewing Co's, but the BBC Bourbon Barrel stout tops them both. I took its availability for granted back when I used to live just on the other side of the river from KY. Not much tops a Bourbon Barrel Stout on draught in a 32oz mug.... Ok, maybe two would.

This is awful, but I've never tried the Dragon's Milk. I'll need to keep an eye out for it again. I would always grab the more local BBC Bourbon Barrel Stout at the store since it was always a few bucks cheaper.

Ahh Busch Light.... The Dog Food of Beers

Brings maybe a memory or two, albeit hazy :D

Dragons Milk is a fine stout.

I love me some Founders Breakfast Stout and their Kentucky Breakfast Stout is excellent. But to be honest I prefer Goose Islands Bourbon County Stout, best Bourbon Stout I've had so far.

Never seen the BBC around here but I'd love to try it

The first time I found it was in Michigan on the way to a knife gathering. It was the first time I have had a Bourbon Barrel Stout, and it was a pretty intense beer.

Since then, I have found it closer to home, and while expensive, I find it worth it.

I have seen some Goose Island beer locally, will have to see if I can find their BCS.

By the way, I picked up another six pack of Two Hearted Ale recently. It is a nice change of pace.

On second thought, at 8%ABV., this Bourbon Barrel Ale seems to be doing the job nicely.

I tried the Founders, but it was trying waaaaay too hard to be the most of everything.
But I tend to prefer balance over extremes in most things, including beer. ABV on the low end is also my preference.

Commercially available stouts I enjoy so far: Sam Smith Oatmeal, Guinness, Young's Chocloate (with SPICY Indian food!), Left Hand, Butternuts.

The Butternuts I describe as 'stout soda'. It's a gentle brew, a bit fizzy, and comes in a normal 12oz can.

Noted! - Founders does some good stuff. I might have a good shot at finding Goose Island here too.

I love beer, but the more I try, the more I'm finding that there are a LOT that I don't like. I've found some that I really like the taste of, but then the really strong aftertaste kills them for me.

I don't see it anywhere up here in Indy, but I could find it anywhere down in S. Indiana. Looks like I might have to scrounge some up to bring if I ever make it out to a gathering.

You're telling me Murph has access to this stuff and he hasn't brought me a case or three to any of the Gatherings???

I'd ban the bastard if he wasn't already a moderator. :D

If he doesn't, he's less than an hour from it.
