I am usually a great believer in tool steel for knives except in certain situations like kitchen knives ,ocean fishing knives ,knives that will be mirror polished and knives that will be concealed and worn close to the body.
I love small fixed blades with really well made kydex sheaths for EDC. They are much better than folders and so long as they are nice and slim are very easy to conceal. My Swarden with the amazing OST sheath was my favourite for a long time and usually got worn around my neck on a ball chain. It has been bumped by my new love the Spyderco mule team with a simple 550 cord wrap. The thing is they are both 52100(SR101) and the uncoated Mule rusts when you look at it sideways. The Swarden is OK because of the coating but is kind of ugly. I would have preferred a black one to the Sage I got.
The Hairry Carry is obviously the Rat version of my favourite knife. I like the slimness of the skelly but slim G10 would be a lot nicer grip at small cost. The knife is probably a bit big for neck carry though.
