Me too! Hope to see it soon but I doubt I will see mine by end of this year due to the shipping time frame.

I think you gents will be pleased!

I hope so! Maybe you can send big hints to family about it!

This crossed my mind, but I have already "stepped in it" so to speak this year with knife buying... this would not be a request that my wife would enjoy...haha

Good looking out Capt! Luckily mine has been paid for since the preorder opened! Now I just need it in hand!

Awesome. Someday, I will get one of these. Until then, I need to use my Esee and Guardian 5 more. Ha.
Those are both great knives, but you still need a GSO!

That's the way to go, I whiffed on this one, be sure to post up pics when it comes in!

Stoked, but I noticed there is no option for a fero notch....the new GSO 4.1 had that option along with the bow drill divot. Did I miss an announcement?

Good observation, I didn't even notice. There hasn't been an official announcement, but there was talk about future changes. Maybe these are some of the changes they're making to streamline production and get knives out quicker. Or maybe they just didn't add the option yet.

I'm extremely excited for these new GSOs.
I've already overspent this month... Been looking for a GSO 5 and a GSO 3.5 from the previous series, and I scored both within 24 hours. (Oh my aching wallet..$$$)
I'm glad to see the process for the "roll out" of these new knives: open up for pre-order, great updates on the production schedule, shipping of pre-order units, followed by standard sales.

I'll be hopping on the S!K site once the GSO 4.1 comes around, and might also pick up a GSO 4.7 or one of the new GSO 3.5s.

The ergos of these blades look like they are going to be top notch!

There hasn't been an announcement since we haven't officially announced that the GSO-5.1s are even in stock.

We are moving away from the ferro notches because of how time consuming they have become, and because they really aren't necessary anymore. The fit and finish on these new blades is so tight that if anything is a hair off the ferro notch won't look perfectly squared off. It may sound silly to some users, but it is something we heard a lot about, in relation to the laser lines of the past. They have to be done very carefully, taking Guy away from production for longer.

For the bow drill divots, we are working on a couple ideas for replacing those with better options. The divot is designed as a just in case sort of thing. They don't hold up through too many uses and we have seen a few get burned through completely.

Part of the plan we are working on includes the addition of a new "Series" where more options will be available. Things like ferro rods or 90 degree spines, brass bow drill divots, custom engraving...
Disclaimers:
1: We are still working on the details
2: They are going to cost a bit more, depending on how customized you go
3: This won't be available until preorders have all been fulfilled, at least. Right now our focus is on production and being as efficient as possible.
