Price Increase for Benchmade and Spyderco Coming?

I have been perusing some of the online retailers to see if there are going to be any last minute end of the year sales, but it seems to be the opposite. BladeHQ and Knife Center both have advertised last chance to get 2018 pricing suggesting there will be a price increase. Do you guys think that the price increase will be significant or will there be one at all? I've been in the market for a 940-02, and can't decide if I want to pull the trigger or possibly wait for a new model to come oro to drop the price of the G10 models. What's your opinion?

I'm pretty sure there is always an increase on Spyderco, so I would imagine that Benchmade will have one also. If you want something now, I'd say just get it.

I EXPECT a price increase whether I like it or not. The end of the year "sales" really aren't much better than normal pricing for the stuff I'm interested in. So, they don't nudge me to buy.

Of course there will be a price increase. They have told you as much.

Prices will only go down on discounted products.

I just got an email . Boker knives or going to a 25% map . Increase price between 20 to 30% . It don’t affect me but for the people looking for a Boker better get them now .

DLT already has the newer BM Grips w/s30v steel for $119. The handles are still the same, just with s30v steel in them now. Things go up in prices each year, we can thank inflation for that.

From what I understand with Benchmade it won't be a ton for each model. After getting a discounted 550HG I liked it so much that I went ahead and pulled the trigger on a 550-1 before the price increase.

the only thing that doesn't go up is my pay check :(

Im quickly getting priced out of the hobby and have started contemplating lower end knives. Looking for those sleepers that are a big bang for your hard earned buck . Trying to stay American made but its getting more and more difficult

That basically means I will buy no more Boker knives. Condor went to MAP pricing and I bought one of their blades this year versus a half dozen to try out. At some point, I draw the line. I could get along quite well if I never bought another knife for the rest of my life.

I’m close to tapping out of this hobby . Besides ZT and the Spyderco Sprint runs or exclusive nothing out ther looks like a good deal . I mean all Benchmade S30V and G10 are way over $175 Spyderco has some good offerings but I’m not going to pay for a techno 2 when I can buy a ZT 0470 for the same or less depending on how much they increase their price .

That means I won't purchase a Boker. Most of the things I like from them are all ready over priced, IMO.

Besides, I am pretty happy with what I all ready own.

Do we have some statistics on the average price increase % of knives each year over the last 10 years? It would be interesting to compare those numbers to the average salary increase % of the folks on this website.

Like several other posters, I feel the price of everything has been increasing at a pace faster than the raise of my salary.

I picked up a titanium Spyderco Military on clearance this week and that will be my last >$100 Knife I buy for a long time.

The prices are getting crazy and in Canada it is much worse due to the low dollar.

I have about 100 good knives. I think I can manage with what I have. :)

I haven't bothered to count how many knives I own. Like some others posting here, I am overstocked for many lifetimes. By observing what seems to be an exponential growth in individual makers with mind boggling prices, and ever increasing prices by manufacturers, one must conclude there is a universe of knife nuts about which we know nothing. If every member of BF started buying like maniacs, we couldn't put a dent in the supply. Those others either do not own knives now and are accumulating, or don't care how many they already have, or how much they cost, or all of the above.

I am not judging whether this is a good or bad state of affairs.

Send them a message, save your money after all you only want it you don't need it.

Well, in honor of this thread, I just ordered a ZT 0609 (finally) and a STP Tool.

Since getting into knives the annual price increases have been 3-4 times any pay increases I’ve had.

“Yes, honey, I know we just over spent on Christmas...but I’m actually SAVING money here!”
I'm about in the same boat. Good luck with the rationalization on buying the ZT. ;)

Knife prices are a funny thing.... every year they seem to go up and I react the same way. By March and after the new ones start to show up from the various manufacturers, I start to rationalize new acquisitions that I don't need.
