  • Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

An inexpensive fillet knife.

Anyone trying to sell you something more than $30 for this purpose is just schilling for a seller.

I think this is spot on. Rapala (Marttiini), Dexter Russell, Victorinox, and Gerber all make a good-quality, relatively inexpensive fillet knife. I believe (though I don't own) Buck makes a decent fillet knife as well. They all run between $10 to $20. You can buy more expensive knives (and I have), but the brands I mention will all do a good job.

If you look for a "boning" knife and go the kitchen cutlery route (Henkels, Wusthof, etc.), you're going to pay a lot more for a knife that basically does the same thing.

Some of my fillet knives...
