Production SWICK vs. Concept SWICK

Pyromancer, BUY IT. You won't be disappointed. Just to make it clear, I pushed for this design, and that's why I have one of the five concept blades. Sal gave me the concept knife for testing for no other reason other than that I loved the SPOT and wanted to see the design improved and continued and was a pest (just like RLR;) ). Regardless, I only pushed and suggested design elements. I am getting no cash for the production model. I received an e-mail today that told me to quit trying to 'fill my pocket'; I'll mention no names, because I would be suspicious also. Sal can back me on this one. I push the SWICK because I love it, plain and simple. I would never recommend a knife that I didn't feel deserved it.

As is mine. Isn't the wait so much fun?
Ah man! That means he is going to your house first! Make sure you point him in the right direction when he leaves...and take away his gameboy.

Must have the Swick! I didn't notice it came with S30V! That rocks. My SPOT is "just" AUS6...;)

Thanks for the heads-up. I love the concept and from your post, I understand the production one is even better :D

Take away his gameboy? I was gonna hook up the link cable and play him in tetris:cool:

Mine probably hasn't even shipped yet, considering I put it in late friday night, and the PO was close yesterday. You might still get yours before me.

I hate waiting.:o

Mine shipped today(stupid post office has off too often) so hopefully thursday or friday I'll have it in hand, and can post my thoughts.

I love the SPOT already, and given the improvement(in my opinion) on the SWICK, I have no doubts I'll be impressed.

But now come the hardest part....the waiting.

Anyone who has one yet: is it the large or the small Tek-Lok that fits the holes pre-drilled into the sheath?

I've not used a Tek-lok before so sorry if this sounds like a daft question!

To those seeking IWB carry, why not try making a J-clip?

Zen, the finish on the SWICK is called 'stonewashed'. The first knife I owned with was a Benchmade TSEK AXIS. This finish holds up substantially better then beadblasting and satin finish. In other words, small scratches don't show at all. Oh yeah, and the SWICK cuts stuff just as well as my concept model (hot tub wrappings, cardboard, denim...although I haven't repeated the roast/denim test yet...Oh, but I will:D ).

I thought stonewashing and beadblasting were the same thing:confused:

Now I really feel like a moron. What's are the differences between that and other finishes?

J.Davey thanks! Stonewashed it is then....I knew wasn't galvanized as it is much smoother feeling and more elegant...just didn't know what to call it. I obviously don't know anything about stonewashed steel but it seems to fit the S30V quite well (since S30V doesn't polish up well on its own). This knife is still cool the second day.

Got my SWICK a couple of days ago. It looks like a great little knife. I have a SPOT too, and I love the grip security on such a small fixed blade. No negatives about the SWICK but one contrast with the SPOT - with its shorter blade, the SPOT is still a better POCKET knife (just in terms of carry). But both are pocketable.

Thanks to all who pushed this model through, including Sal for having the vision to see its potential.

Now, everybody buy one !;)

It can do a lot. VERY pleased with the production model! Fans of neck knives and the such: anyone who is misses out on this is missing a lot!

SMCFALLS13, you should now know the difference between 'bead-blast' and 'Stonewash'. Bead blast has a mor uniform, 'dull' look. Stonewash is its own finish, and doesn't really compare to anything else. It still has a certain amount of shine, but is, at the same time, subdued. I, personally, like the stonewash finish. What do the rest of you think?

Stonewashing looks pretty cool, much better than beadblasted.

Can't believe I thought they were the same thing.

A review of the SWICK will be in order sometime soon.
