Production SWICK vs. Concept SWICK

Figured I'd ressurect this thread and ask how everyone is enjoying their SWICK (those of you who have one)! I know I'm still loving mine!

I love mine.

Did some cord wrapping around the handle, and despite my amateur attempt, it doesn't look half bad;) I carry it every day, and in case I failed to mention it, I love this knife.

Leaps and bounds above the SPOT.:D

I carried the concept for a couple months, and have been carrying the production model for a couple of weeks. I will state, on my own life, THIS IS THE BEST NECK KNIFE/FIXED EDC I'VE OWNED!!!! My love for the feel and performance of the SWICK is unparalled. Those of you who love the HideAway knives, take notice (the HAKs are nice, but they do not compare, IMHO).   :D

Can the Swick hide mounted under the lapel collar of a denim jacket?

Does the Swick allow hands-free use so that I can manipulate my wallet while standing at the ATM -- held at the ready, inside the palm, so even the person behind me, doesn't know I have blade ready?

Swick is a fine knife, to be sure.

But the HideAway knife brings advantages beyond just cutting ability.

Hmm...not really sure...

Again, not really sure what you mean by "hands free", but I have had the knife in my hand at the ATM on more than one occasion, as well as when walking to my car late at night after getting off of work, and it is easily concealable, even when carrying keys and bags of groceries. Different scenario, but the SWICK is not obtrusive, and it won't interfere with whatever other things you're using your hands for, if that's what you were asking.

Does require a little bit of dexterity though.

Seth,
I made my comments based on my own opinions. I HAVE held a HAK; it felt awkward and uncomfortable to me. Yes, you can hold it in almost any circumstance, but is it really ever comfortable in your hand? Does it ever really feel as secure as the SWICK? As I said, I like the HAKs. They definitely fill their niche' (knives for those who don't have alot of experience with drawing a blade on short notice...actually, I can see that being flamed right now...the HAK design is good, so please don't take my comments as a slam). I've owned several 'neck knives'. The SPOT was my favorite. It was discontinued. I pushed for a new version with either a longer wharncliff of hawksbill blade. It happened. Of course it is my favorite! It is exactly what I asked for to fill MY needs. It won't appeal to everyone. By the way, have you used or even handled a SWICK yet? Not trying to instigate; just curious.
Be well.

I got my SWICK from NG last week, and I must agree that it is probably the best neck knife/small FB going. The sheath is outstanding and I like the fact that it will accept a mini tek lock. The SWICK is the only neck knife that I have ever used that I forgot I had on.

I vastly prefer the SWICK to the LaGriffe I once owned. G10 scales and a hawkbill blade would be interesting variations for future runs.

Thanks for listening Spyderco.

Is there anything holding the knife in the sheath, or does it rely on friction?

Thanks.

It relies on friction, but I've tried to get mine to come loose by swinging it around, and it doesn't budge at all.

(Yes I am that stupid);)

Hi! This is my second ever post. I am relatively new to this forum and to knife collecting in general, but something about well designed, shiny sharp objects appeals to me -- and now I know I'm not alone!

I have a Spyderco SS Police PE -- IMO the most beautiful knife I've ever seen. Yesterday I got the SPOT I ordered online last week. I am totally impressed with the design of this knife. One question though -- inside the box, in addition to the knife, sheath and chain/paracord, there was what appeared to be the "hole" drilled out of the knife, albeit much thicker. For some reason, I love this little Spyder-hole. Is this standard practice, to ship the holes with the knives?

Unrelated question: the Police is a bit big for an EDC. I don't use knives too often in my desk job, but I would like to purchase a small to mid-sized Spyderco for my EDC, preferably one that is not a liner lock. I would welcome any suggestions. Thanks!

PS - this forum is great! Wish I had found it a long time ago, but better late than never.

HI Harry, shipping the hole is not at all common.

A good every day carry (edc) knife is a delica...get the just released delica 4.

Thanks zen! I've been eyeing the delica 4, now if i can only locate a retailer nearby that carries sypderco i'd be set (i checked the dealer locator and none are close by).

but as i looked through some of the pics on this forum, i noticed that other SPOTs have the largest hole on the blade filled in! when i looked at my spyder-hole i realized it would fit (with some gentle force) into the largest hole. but if i do that, the knife won't fit in the kydex sheath. is the large blade hole supposed to be filled or empty on the old SPOTs? and if it is supposed to be filled -- then why, if it no longer fits in the sheath?

Thanks!

happy but confused in NJ.
