Would you like to see Spyderco produce a Wegner fixed blade? If Spyderco were to produce a Wegner fixed blade what blade steel and handle material would you like to see? Keep in mind that Spyderco probably wants to keep it within a manageable price range. Do you think they would be a big seller (these things are probably hard to predict)? I know that I would buy one or two or three. I would like to see VG-10 and micarta for the handles, or maybe polished g-10. A kydex sheath with tek-lock would be a necessity.

If possible I would like to see BG-42, but I know that this is much more difficult to grind and that it would probably have to be done stateside. But that is my choice. For the handle, I would like to see micarta, black or maroon. Leather sheath. I too would get a couple.

BG-42 or VG-10 steel fine, micarta handle and kydex sheath, I'm in for a couple of these beauties.

VG-10, maroon micarta, Kydex, WOW

this would be a great knife!

If you call Blade-Tech and ask Tim, I know that he's looking hard into getting this knife produced. The requests he gets for it far outnumber what he can get out of Rob and Phil, and that's at the full custom price. BTW - at this level, most folks are paying the $100 premium for Talonite (as opposed to CPM440V), which is Tim's favorite.

I've seen the knife in maroon micarta, and it is beautiful!

I'll buy two, micarta handles or G-10 either one. Option of either leather or kydex sheath, kydex is a little noisy in the woods when hunting. Just let us know when we can get it.

Hey guys this needs to happen! What a knife! After seeing and or handling a Wegner fixed blade, the question would be, "What's a Moran?"

Ooh yes please, I like the folder's a lot and I really like the look of this. BG42 with micarta handle would be nice and how about supplying 2 sheaths in the box, both leather and kydex just to add flexibility to the product. Just say when and how much??
That's my tuppence worth.
Paul.

Ditto what Paul said. I like the idea of two sheaths, one leather and the other Kydex.

How about two versions, like the Puma White Hunters, Stag and Kraton?

Blade steel could also be VG-10, 440V or 440C and I'd buy one, or more.

BTW if Wenger and Graley (G2) got together on this, it would be two brothers I would support no matter what they made it out of.

OK, for the purpose of discussion only. Please DO NOT call our sales dept.

Assuming a Wegner designed FB in VG-10:

What is the most you would pay for this (MSRP)?

Would you pay 40% more for the model in slab micarta over FRN?

Would you prefer micarta to FRN with inlaid rubber like the Moran?

A second sheath would add $15 -$25 to the retail price (depending on the sheath), so I think one sheath would be prudent. What kind of sheath would your "dream" knife have?

and remember, "quality is accuracy is time is money" one concept, four manifestations. Spyderco will only build it "right", so "cheap" is out, at least for us. For the Record, "Right" is good enough to please the experts, not just the buyers.

Spoke with Tim today about the concept. (He's at the Guild Shows too).

As far as price is concerned, I'm paying in Canadian dollars and have never worried about it if the performance is there in the product. Micarta (burgandy)is definitely my first choice for handle materials.
A leather sheath would look a lot nicer with this knife, but I really like kydex for a working blade. Possibly make one sheath standard and offer the other as a cost added option.
IMHO, the real beauty in this knife is how it performs. It would be on the belt more than it would be on the shelf so, for me, kydex wins out.

My $0.02

How much would I pay? . . . $120 - $150 More than that and I would really want to get a good look at it first. MSRP? If retailers discount the knife a little the MRSP can go up to maybe $170 and still be in the range.

40% more for Micarta, Yea, is that before or after How much would you pay? Micarta would make the knife much more attractive to me, FRN with or without the rubber inlay would adversely affect my desire. Colored G 10 alternative? How does it compare in price? To me Micarta would be at the top of the list, then G 10, FRN at the bottom.

Sheath, either, or, Design of the sheath might be more important than material. All things being equal a nice leather pouch sheath would be nice. (I can always get blade-Tech to make me a Concealex sheath after the fact at reasonable price.)

Please don't let this thing turn into a monster, Keep the knife small. I would hope no bigger than the full size folder, and I would really like to see it smaller, more a Junior size.

And Sal, I don't care if it isn't left handed. I like it!

Would suggest the following:

-maroon micarta handle
-kydex sheath
-no steel preference other than it be easy to sharpen and holds an edge.
-MSRP 175.00 plus or minus 25.00.

I would be willing to pay a premium for the micarta. The FRN doesnt appeal to me.

Hello,

such a beauty !

Keep it small enough to have a 3 inches blade and a little deep leather sheath enough rigid for quick draws to be carried at a blet in the rear pocket.

CPM440V would be great for a little blade !

My two little eurocents.

cheers,
JM

I figure somwhere around $175 MSRP. Leather is nice, but I think kydex would be more appealing to the masses. I would like to see micarta, but I would still buy one with frn. I would like to see one about the same size as the full size Wegner.

I would suggest the following:
- micarta handle
- kydex or leather sheath (kydex is LOUD)
- steel should 420v, 440v or VG-10.
- MSRP between $140 and $200

Sal, should we start saving

Without micarta and with a quality sheath of leather or kydex, (the other could be optional) $25.00 per blade inch would be nice.

Look at the prices of Fallkniven for market comparison. However, they lack the touch of Wegner's gift.

I would like to see the blade no longer than 4". Handle material in G-10 or Micarta [colored]. Sheath in Leather, w/ kydex an option, for an addition fee of coarse. MSRP somewhere betweem $130.00/$170.00.
