Australia has some of the most durable commercially available woods in the world, like ironbark, spotted gum and various eucalypts. And the world’s largest iron ore deposits. And lots of rabbits. But no cutlers!

cudgee cudgee Thanks for that info mate...I have a couple of toledo austs ...their lock back 110 lookalikes are wobbly ...It was my work knife in the firies for many years...Acyually trying to get the stainless sharp was what originally lead me to blade forums ...so at least we all know who to blame now.:D
I've also heard that the company might have been Tempe Tools in Sydney...Tempe is a suburb near the airport. Pretty much all the manufacturing has been replaced by hi rise.
cheers...
We are getting off topic, but to end, you are stiff, i did some research on Toledo years ago, had a good document on them. Last year my computer died with the documented history. You would have enjoyed it, but alas it was not meant to be. Can we just now move on and get this knife done. :)

Are a lot of folks so tired of bunny stew and fried bunny, that they use them as fertilizer in the garden and to feed the chickens, oinkers, goats, hounds, and watch cats?
(chickens will eat any table scraps you toss out for them, including raw or cooked chicken and other fowl, fish, beef/pork ... pretty much anything a hog will eat, a chicken will eat.)

I thought there were a couple custom cutlery makers in Australia?

Nothing fancy was made here...these Toledo Australia knives were something to do with a mob called Tridon..the small one has laminated scales which I dont find attractive at all...but not a bad little knife...Bunny type maybe..The Buck 110 lookalike is Rough Ryder kit knife I built ...it came with laminated timber scales which I turfed in favour of Spotted Gum..eucalyptus maculata ...which a great timber for tool handles...it has darkened nicely with time...
Cheers.

Do any of the eucalyptus woods have any kind of aroma, like juniper does? That would be kinda cool.... I have a cold... what are you doing? Sniffing my knife, of course... 😁

That's a shame Leon, I'd have been interested to read that :(

I'll save you the trouble. Nothing much at all has been said about the knife other than the original Post # 1. All the rest is folks saying they like it, or they wish it was ____, or rabbit references.
What about the Eligibility Exam?

It's supposed to be pretty long, with short essay, and the answers will be culled, in part, from this thread. If the meako meako questions are fill in the blank, you might be outta luck.

All I gather is that Charlie and Bill will decide, because of some people getting a little too rowdy last year. It didn’t seem that they minded hearing the druthers of others, though. Otherwise, take it or leave it. Simple.
