Prune Big, or Go Home!

Another informative thread with some really big pruners. I’m home so here’s my relatively diminutive pruner. I checked out the Knife Magazine article mentioned from April 2021, English Pruning Knives. My favorite knife pictured is the Joseph Rodgers & Son coffee pruner with scratted bone handles.

Rob those are to die for my friend. The bone on the ny knife is just mind numbingly gorgeous.

It’s made by Daniel Keown. The blade and spring are A2 that is blued. Integral bolsters, domed pins and ebony covers. Closed it is 4.25 and the blade is 3.25. Top notch build. I like the pattern and I have a garden. I am going to cut some dahlias.

Thanks, Unk!! That knife will give your gardening a little extra, aesthetic pleasure!!
Real nice!!

His blade etch makes a great memorial!! As does the whole knife!! R.I.P.
That Sheffield Coat of Arms was also my old school blazer badge Charlie :) It was a very kind gift my friend :)
Jack, your knife reminded me that I have this Ablett combo!! A Peach Pruner with an Ettrick!! It sure makes a hefty knife, especially with that thick Stag!!View attachment 1851817View attachment 1851818
Trevor made some very unusual combinations, and that is certainly one of them Charlie :)

That's one of a handful of 'grail' knives for me. Really nice example! If I ever find one it'll be put to hard gardening use. Thanks for sharing those pics.
Really Tyson, where did you come across it? Sad to say that the contemporary Wilkinson Sword branded Pruners I see on sale in gardening centres are of poor to middling quality ☹️ Thanks for the compliment, I was lucky to find that one NIB 👍

Yours is probably only the third one I've seen pics of. I've never seen one in person or online for sale (yet) but hope that someday I will. I think that either Wilkinson Sword didn't make very many of these, or they aren't seen as interesting or valuable by most knife aficionados, because even online they're pretty rare. Glad you found such a nice one - congrats!
