WinMag775 WinMag775 Superb presentation, particularly interesting is the fixed one more, like a small bill hook for hedging and limbing. Also, the bottom two- Ebony, Stag are swedged adding a touch of class to the quality of production/presentation. Excelling indeed
Thank you Will. The fixie is an interesting blade. I picked it up from an antiquities dealer in India of all places. Below is a link to a similar display from the D. Hayden-Wright auction. Theres quite a few variations.

The ebonys swedge and matchstrike pull is a beautiful touch for a basic working knife. I believe the stag originally started out as a hawkbill. It looks as if someone re-profiled the blade into a sheep. The blades edge bevel gets thicker as it nears the tip. Also the swedge dips down into the nick. None the less, its still an amazing piece of Sheffield history imo.

Very nice examples by IXL my friend , especially the Matchstrike pull and the small Stag versions . It appears to me that who ever owned the Stag felt it was such a comfortable one to use that he made it into an EDC .

Thank you Harry. I completly agree with you on the stag. It was my first vintage Sheffield knife. This sounds silly, but when I first opened that box, it carried a presence when held that no modern knife can recreate. To me, their true works of art made by craftsman that's long gone. This also goes for American made knives from the same period. They both have subtle differences in thier manafacturing and design.

I carry all of my knives and that re-grind makes me feel a little less guilty when I do. Although its mostly used for coon fingering tasks, it makes my day to carry it. Ive not had a bad day yet while toting this guy around town!

(Better late than never!!) Nice I*XL collection, Mike!!!

Here is a good sized (3 15/16") peach pruner, gifted from Campbellclanman Campbellclanman !! Thanks again Duncan, years later!!!
This is a C.Johnson "Flag Knife" - etch still visible!!CJ w turq 1.jpgCJ w turq 2.jpgCJ w turq 3.jpg
(Gem grade Turquoise from the "Sleeping Beauty" mine, raw and finished!!)

Seeing those nice I*XL's pop up, I tried to find where I posted the last I*XL I picked up a while ago, I do remember posting it - it must have been in the "Old Knives" Thread. (Edit - It was in "The Golden era of Sheffield Knives").

Perhaps a few I haven't posted in here? Yet this Thread is one of my favourites. I remember handing over many old Pruners to Mr Hilborn as he has a soft spot for them, but I seem to have kept accumulating them. This is a Giant of a knife, the older I*XL blade stamp as well as the font of the older Wostenholm tang stamp on the Tang. In superb order for its age.

Love that Navajo jewelry Charlie! Seeing that Flag Knife Peach pruner reminded me of this Sheffield Nowill Peach Pruner.
