This might be the most SNOWFLAKE comment I've heard in awhile...do you need a safe space while your mom um I mean the Mod's take care of the big bully....

LMAO. Thanks for the hearty belly laugh! :D

Realistically there isn't much we can do to stomp out flipping in the community. For one, if they don't do it here, they'll do it on eBay or elsewhere. For another, I'm not a fan of micromanaging the users of the site, and we commonly get complaints that our rules are too complicated already. If the manufacturer isn't going to limit to 1-per-person, I'm not sure how or why we can be expected to police this either, or if it's even our job.

Here's my opinion: I'm not a fan of flipping, and if you are scooping up multiple knives to turn around and resell them, you are a dealer - you just aren't honest enough to admit it. If you want to stay off the radar, my suggestion would be to not advertise a sprint run or similar knife for sale at least for a couple weeks after it's shipped, especially if you have multiples. ESPECIALLY IF YOU HAVE MULTIPLES.

Supply vs demand is basic economics. Excessive demand drives prices upwards, and the knife industry is no different. We have the feedback forum for a reason, and there's nothing stopping people from using this resource, and the for sale threads, to identify people who are consistently & repeatedly flipping knives at exorbitant rates. This is a large community, but this behavior does get spotted, especially when it's immediately after a product goes live. Word of mouth gets around.

I understand the concerns, but recognize our limitations as well.

What about someone who buys 2 of a knife, because they have the disposable income. They hold them and the value goes up by a bunch when they sell one after a year or so to cover the price of the keeper. Is that flipping? Or a good investment?

I'm torn, usually I'm not a fan of flippers, because they beat me to the buy I wanted. Fast sellers seem more like poorly capitalized members then bad actors to me. Unless I can't get a cool knife and they taunt us with their success by selling immediately, not realizing the value (as a tool) of what they bought for a second.

Does it really come down to how quickly one sells the buy for a profit? Is it the percentage of total posts in exchange for sale section?

I've resigned to picking up users when I can, eliminates the whole flipped or not flipped discussion as I don't regard members who use and later sell a flipper per se. Just a member who's eye moved to another knife to use as intended.

its flipping.

I was a little late to the party but still found one that will be arriving today. I don't believe they have all dropped yet. I was watching about 15 vendors for several days, and not all of them even had a listing for them yet. At least one was going to announce on FB when they receive/drop theirs, so if you're still looking, don't give in to the flippers yet.

Thanks, Spark. Much appreciated.

The Para 3 was in stock as of a minute or so ago...but at a somewhat usurious price.

People will still pay those prices if they want it bad enough. You know how sprints are! They bring the flippers out of the woodworks!

I'm guessing that if it was currently in stock there would be a bump in price to match or exceed the Para 3.

How are we expected to track something being offered a month, two months, a year, a decade after it was bought? Offering multiples immediately after it came out though? C'mon.

Bento Box Shop has some stock for $215. No way in hell for me.

Here's my take: no question I would like one of these. But I have more than enough knives to meet my needs. My M4 and S30v knives don't cut any differently because this one came out. Spydero is going to continue to make sprints knives with different steels. Something different will come along soon enough. I'm not at all negatively impacted by not having this particular sprint run. I'll wait for the next one or for the hype to subside.

I believe I made a couple of comments regarding their business model:

They're charging $50 over the Para 3 price BHQ had them in stock for when I followed your heads up on Monday to order one. Not a great deal imho.

The Para 3 was in stock as of a minute or so ago...but at a somewhat usurious price.

I certainly wouldn't patronize that outfit.

What is an institutionalized flipper?

I believe he's referring to the fact that they jacked up the price over what other online dealers are or were selling the knives for. I don't disagree.

I find it distasteful...but everyone is free to vote with their wallet.
