I don't really care for flippers generally. That said, it's a question of how much the market will bear and how badly you want something. I would rather have the option to pay above retail pricing to someone that has what I want rather than being unable to acquire it at all, even if that only occurs once in a blue moon. It's kind of a balancing act -- if enough people refuse to patronize the flippers, they will do it less as their return on investment will steeply decline due to lack of demand. Either that or they will have to raise their prices even further in an effort to make up the lost revenue. In this particular instance the REX 45 knives are not at all interesting to me so I won't be buying one, retail or otherwise.

When you think about it, They pay for that website, pay for the run time, pay for the advertising, and all the other business stuff i cant think of... while we pay 30 dollars a year..?
Paying a dealers price would be cheap compared to what they pay to run their business.
Yeah it's distasteful, but then again they have a business to run. Forum flippers don't, so thats probably why it seems they catch a lot more flack from members here.

Ill be honest I used to flip. First transaction I've ever made on here was a flipping two Manix M4's to get one for almost free back in, January? February? I forgot. But the more I've been here in the Bladeforums community, I feel like Im becoming a part of something bigger.
Being a part of this community gives people an outlet to converse with other people of the same passion; Great knives and gear. We get to deal with familiar trustworthy people with a reliable rating system. We see people who have been here for 15 years+, seen a lot of site changes, brands come and go, and we have access to an ungodly amount of information to feed our unyielding knife addiction.

Amazing that the community here has in a way "cured" my desire to flip for profit.
You guys are awesome.
This community is awesome.

So thank you all for making such a great place for knife addicts.

Every time I see a reply I’m hoping it’s just a heads up where to score one of these. But just more flipper talk. :(

When I think about it thousands upon thousands of companies pay for their websites, pay for the run time, pay for the advertising, and all the other business stuff without price gouging/jacking up the price just because they can or they think they have some self perceived moral right to do so.

AFAIC dealers that do that don't get some type of "special pass" and are in the same boat as "flippers"..

I believe he's referring to the fact that they jacked up the price over what other online dealers are or were selling the knives for. I don't disagree.

I find it distasteful...but everyone is free to vote with their wallet.

Thanks!

Do you hate house flippers too? Why so much hate on someone making a dollar?
If i bought out your grocery store and charged double for food, would you hate me for making a dollar? Its the principle of how you made the dollar, which isnt morally correct. House flippers generally buy the house, renovate it, and flip it, so your example isnt really on point. Imagine if you wanted to move into a neighborhood of perfect houses and someone said nah im gonna buy them all and charge double, just bc they can. That seems morally correct to you?

Enjoy Blues Blues ! Just received mine yesterday, and it came fuh-reaking sharp for a factory edge. They really put these together nicely. The color is very nice too.

Thanks guys. Appreciate it.

I'll report back later as the mail is usually delivered late in my area.

Well fellas, looks like this Para 3 is a keeper. Fit and finish are about perfect. Drops free. Edge as delivered is vorpal. (Maybe even better than the Cru-Wear PM2.)

Into the pocket she goes.

Mine arrived yesterday.

Like Blues Blues said, fit and finish are perfect. Scary sharp (as was the Rex45 PM2). Now trying to force a patina with vinegar. More in a few hours...:D

The good news: Rex 45 does take a (vinegar) patina quite easy (and fast)
But it didn't came out as expected...:D
I cleaned the blade with alcohol and than i wrapped the blade in a paper towel with vinegar. Don´t know why it is much darker at some spots.
At least i now have a unique Para 3:p

After the (failed) patina job i sharpened it to 17° with a 20° micro bevel. At least that worked, now it is even sharper than in the beginning:thumbsup:.

Jeez any way to remove that or can you keep making it darker?

I don't know. I will just continue to use it, especially for food prep. I guess it will get darker and more even with time.

The Military will be the T-Rex of this release.

Not sure that I'll need one but if it's built to the same standard it will be killer.
