Purchasing my first blade and in need of guidance.

From what I've seen there is very few reason to want to stick around. Can you blame me? I came here and in a mature/respectful manner asked for help only to get attacked by immaturity. I am honestly surprised the trolls haven't already been banned. The thread was derailed and no respect was shown from any of them from the start.

Pssst...here's a secret...YOU are the troll...

Well, la de da. You asked for guidance. You got it, you didn't like it. Seems that instead of asking for guidance here, you are trying to lecture. Pretty funny stuff. :D

How many posts were there not giving any advice on blade care? How many posts were there insulting and judging me and the company I bought the blade from? How many sarcastic posts were there not helping one bit?

These were way before I even got involved and replied to them. From the start people berated the thread

Well, if you think you know better....

Don't let the door hit your butt on your way out.

Go away, young man. Good luck with the zombies. I can only imagine you in hand-to-hand combat with one.

I see you can't come up with a response to my questions. Did I not get attacked from the start? All you are doing is trolling.

That was a good response. Your questions got answered, you just didn't like the answers, is all. The snark just started when you didn't want to accept the answers you got.

I love how you continue to avoid the fact that I came here in a responsible manner. Only to get attacked from the start.

Hopefully mods will see this and all of your posts and take action. This thread is getting pretty popular so I'd expect it to be soon.

"The snark just started when you didn't want to accept the answers you got."

Read page two. and look at all for the off topic discussion filled with trolls.

If the mods do see this I'm not sure this will turn out the way you hope it will. Seriously, amigo, you need a major attitude adjustment if you expect to survive as a member of this board.

Nope, you were not attacked. You do seem pretty onion skinned.

You keep digging yourself into a deeper and deeper hole. Your question was answered within the first couple posts. You should have said "thanks" and be the end of it. But you had to seem like you knew what you were talking about so you automatically stated calling people who don't agree with you as being "elitist", which sounds like something a person with their head up their a** would say. Don't go around accusing people who you have never even met of being something that they aren't, that will get you a lot of crap really quick.

Also, don't say this little nugget
It's no wonder the blade community is viewed as a joke.
ON A KNIFE FORUM. That's plain stupidity, no getting around it.

The way you replied to some of the first posts sounded hostile, so since youve been here for less than 48 hours, it probably isn't the best way to start off your stay on bladeforums. If you don't want to stay on here nobody is keeping you here. There's is a log out button to the top right of your screen, click that and be on your merry way.

That's it. Thank God for the Ignore feature. You are dead to me after a brief but completely horrendous career on Bladeforums. Frankly, you will be the only poster on my list but you are so completely obstinate and patently stubborn that I just can't tolerate you.

Have a good life and good luck with your badass blade. I'm sure you'll put it to good use.

Death123, people consider knives to be tools--something to be used when the situation deems it necessary. Call it a weapon or a tool--doesn't matter. Its a subjective question and can be argued both ways. You just need to see where people are coming from. As stated previously knives are already seen as a bad thing and often demonized. The company you purchased from with its unique names and its Zombie theme is definitely not helping. For many people here, they appreciate a quality product that they can use on a daily basis whether it be from edc tasks to skinning a deer. Your notion of "real weaponry" offends many individuals. Perhaps it just your wording and maybe what you really should be getting into is "quality" weaponry or tools. Its apparent that you want to justify your purchase and if you like it, that great; however, you have to take into account that the people on this forum know more than you. Even looking back at one of your earlier statements, how are you going to get into "real weaponry" if you argue with every person who brings up a point or speaks against you. To your credit, not everyone brought up a point in the most friendly nor respectful fashion.

Being a new member, perhaps you should listen a bit more and argue less. Reading and browsing this forum will get you above the noob status and really get you into knives-- I would know  Just read up, ask, and don't give up. This forum is full of knowledgeable members and information, some of which you probably can't get somewhere else.

The cliche'd term how can you learn if you're cup is full really applies here. It would be in your best interest to close this thread, let people cool off, and get back into new threads with a good attitude and a empty cup. And to others on this thread, rather than to immediately bash a new member, you should greet new members with a more forgiving and understanding attitude.

Just my .02c

We all did. As has been mentioned, you got answered within the first few posts. You just didn't like what you heard.

I asked abut oiling a blade for storage and for use. And you consider someone trashing the company and the blade an actual answer to my questions?

I appreciate this post. And as I've already stated by "real" weaponry I meant a blade that is sharpened and not a display piece. I would have never expected that to be offensive in any manner. I'm new to this and I clearly want to learn as much as possible. The overwhelming negative and sarcastic responses at times were ridiculous and a major put off. Doesn't help that people say I should be "ashamed" of the purchase I made just because they don'y like the marketing.

The guy gave you his opinion about the quality of your purchase and the company you bought it from. That happens in a knife forum. His opinion happens to be a widely shared opinion. You're question still got answered by other posts. I do think that you are butthurt because you spent a large chunk of money on something and you need to justify it to yourself.

A bit of advice here dude, when you post something, you get all sorts of reactions. It's up to you to glean what info you need.

It wasn't a very respectful and mature way of expressing his opinion now was it? I don't see how I need to justify my purchase. I am reading more about the company and getting more excited as time goes. If someone doesn't like my blade. That's fine. As long as that dislike is not expressed in a rude manner. I came here with respect and was hoping for it in return. I didn't want anyone to like the blade. All I wanted was some help.

Saying I should be "ashamed" of the purchase is in no way mature and I can't see how that can be defended.

Look at how this

"How serious of a threat can rust be to a blade? I know it's a big deal, but is it something to freak out about if it happens to a blade? How badly can it damage the blade?"

Being responded with this

"For a normal knife it's no big deal. In fact many go out of their way to force a patina (oxidation) on their knives.

But for that knife, it will make the knife notice when you hit bone. It also makes the knife less potentially violent. Also you will no longer ooze badassery by just holding it....you will leak assery by just holding it.

That's the risk you run if you don't keep a light coat of oil on it."
