Purdiest Traditional

I think the best looking knife I've ever seen belongs to one of our moderators (I believe it's Peregrin). It's a stag lanny's clip and I stare at that thing every time it makes an appearance. I sure hope it's posted in this thread because it sure deserves it. Perfect in my opinion....

Here you go, JD. 3 1/2" Lanny's Clip Jr. It's one of my favorites too. The stag, the grinds and swedges, and the blade to handle ratio makes it look perfect to my eye. Mr. Brent Cramer made this one and he knows how much I like it!

That'd be the one!! Thank you my friend. I always enjoy seeing that LC. That's absolute perfection to me...

A lot of beautiful knives in this thread! As far as knives in my own collection, I think these are some of the best looking.

I've always loved the color and jigging of the bone on this #77 Yankee Jack.

These two are certainly good looking knives.

I think that these plain ebony-handled knives are beautiful.

And finally my best looking stag handled knife, a Northfield #25.

As far as knives that I don't own (and probably won't any time soon :D), I think some of the understated customs I've seen on this forum by makers like T.A. Davison and Paul Mason are incredible, and I love seeing knives with elephant or mammoth ivory.

Really enjoying this thread so far, can't wait to see what else gets posted!

While not as purdy as the stunning customs being shown, the 2014 Stag Jack is the nicest folder I have.
We knocked it out of the park with this one imo.:)(the voters and facilitators)
I mean heck, it's got stag, (graciously donated by Mr. Lloyd) modestly lined bolsters, the hounds tooth shield and a nice working size clip blade in a slim package thanks to the single blade design.(and a bit of sanding on my part to knock down some high spots  :))

Before a couple'a years of pocket time...

And after those couple of years in pocket.
Chicken fingerin' friendly smoothness right there.(makes for a nice worry stone)

Purdy is as purdy does.;)

Diggin' the Harley themed Davison Clem.

My old man used to dive for Abalone so I'm hoping someone will post some more Abalone soon.
That Ken Coats in Paua got me thinking about the old man so thanks for that MTD.:)

And thanks for the pics so far folks.:)

Very good 'butter' colour to that Forum Knife 14 mykel:thumbup:

Here's that 83 again with some glossy friends, birds of a feather...;)

Very nice Will. I find that Case/Bose Norfolk just about perfect. It's just so hard to find one. I looked for some time and on the rare occasion that one became available, I didn't have the funds. The size is perfect IMO. Some makers are just too small for me to ever pull the trigger on.

I think out of all of my folders, this one from Bret would have to hold the top spot as the "purdiest". It has everything needed. Great stag, great colors, perfect grinds and swedges, perfect choice of shield. There's not one thing on this knife I would change and not one thing that could make it any better. It's perfect.

Thanks Bob! It's improved over time with more carry and I've grown to like it more, the mark & pile sides don't match at all though being very different colours, didn't really expect that. Size is good yes, GEC's Norfolk was too small and thin for my personal taste. I'd certainly like to see other makers have a shot at this very interesting pattern.

Regards, Will

Another aspect to the pretty, is file-work.

I regard the French as having the hegemony in this area. This by Renaud Aubry on shadow Ebony, 11cm.

As far as factory produced knives I think the GEC Washington Jack is the purdiest,

This John Lloyd custom is probably my purdiest knife,

Thanks Will, but I cheated.
I applied a very light coat of med. brown leather dye to both sides after sanding down the ridges, then wiped it off immediately and it came out yellowish on the mark side but mostly wiped off on the pile side.
I believe because it is pithier on the mark side so the dye soaked in faster.
Two years later and the pile side is finally getting the aged yellow color to match the mark side.

Had to include this as well, my favourite SFO of all time from GEC. Lyle enabled us to get our hands on a very scarce pattern, one which is practical too.

It gets better with use too!

Not cheating in my book! Just enhancing or pimping:D I went in the opposite direction with my FK 14, I gave it a tea dye bath (THAT took some nerve and a few drinks beforehand:eek::D ) it came out very nicely darkened, the porous stag did bloat and expand a bit (alarming!) but once dry it resumed the correct size and I'm very pleased with the results.
