the bison would be cool. Since you are in a Montana , did the reintroduction of wolves affect you? Or was that more in Yellowstone?
The big reintroduction was mostly Yellowstone. The protection of Wolves and Grizzly is what's always affected us here. Ranchers lose a lot of cattle and sheep. Most Grizzly stay in the mountains but some get pushed out on the prairie and do some damage. There's a lot of suspicion that the numbers they use to justify the protection of both are an absolute fabrication.

Fermilab National Accelerator Laboratory is about three miles from my house. They have a herd of Bison.

They also have the potential to create a black hole so, I’ll be one of the first to go if they do. 😎

That’s a water tower at the bottom of the photo if you’re wondering how big the collider is.

6,800 acres with deer and coyote all over it.

You can visit and a lot of people use it as a low traffic bicycling oasis.

They used to let the public fish in the ponds and lakes. They’ve reopened to the public this year but, after Covid they decided to ban fishing on the grounds. Must have figured out that catching Bluegill is a threat to national security.

The Bison are still cool to see.

Bison are awesome, love to see them. There's a herd down the road near East Glacier. We were thinking about taking the kids fishing in the Park this week or next but judging by the smoke lingering around here there must be a fire in the moutnains, can't even see them right now. About half the horizon is a wall of smoke.

Elk Island park is less than an hour from my place…
Lots of Bison, Elk, Moose, deer, unless you want to see something…
Me & Janet had to go the long way back around a hiking loop once when
a Mama moose wouldn’t move, tho we didn’t ask her to…
Mostly what they have are leeches in the lake…

Wild fire is one thing we don’t have to worry about here in Illinois.

Prairie fires and controlled burns happen but no one really has to worry about losing their home to forest fires.

You’ll get that when most of the state is corn and soy bean fields in the summer and dirt/mud between harvest and spring.

That’s my niece working near Dawson city Yukon…
That was last year I think?
They found a wooly mammoth…
This year they found an almost perfectly preserved mammoth
baby ( what’s the word for mammoth babies?)

Hey Rupe…
I wish I had a job colliding stuff no one can see…
All the stuff I collided got me in trouble…
Tho, in my defence, we didn’t study Astro physics at Mechanic school…🤪

Ok, small wooly mammoth discovered near Dawson City Yukon…
My niece is from Whitehorse Yukon…
Great kid, so glad she has a job she enjoys!!

Ok, I just talked to her and the name of the little mammoth is “Nun Cho Ga” in indigenous language of some kind…
it means, “Big Baby Animal”…
Well, why complicate things?
