Purple! Because Ice cream has no bones!

That's a sweet ride! My buddy out here owns two sleds and a timbersled. I could never afford one of these machines. They are powerful beasts. It's an 850 turbo with a 165 track. In the right hands, it could go anywhere.

Thanks! It’s a 138” track, which was long back then, but nothing compared to now. These new sleds like that are pushing 200HP!!! They’re insane, and you can get in BIG trouble real quick if you aren’t an experienced rider. $20k for a new sled though? 😬

I agree. They can get you in trouble quickly. This is my second year ridding this one. I'm learning how to get it on edge and traverse hills this year. My buddy has watched me roll it over multiple times ( including on myself). He is always pushing me to learn on it and I have to remind him that I would have to sell my wife and kid to pay him back if I destroy it. So far, I still have my wife and kid.

These pics were taken Monday afternoon and we've had another snow yesterday and today Wednesday woke to the biggest blizzard of the year. Its stacking up out there. Ranchin' might be good this year. Cautiously optimistic, I think is the term

Happy birthday to Roy.

Great gift John. Tell him I want him shooting golf balls out of the air by June. 🤪

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ROY!!
Thats a cool rifle young man!!
Pass a hello to everyone from Uncle Randy up in Alberta!!

Is .22L or regular .22 a good varmint killer or just for plinking around having fun shooting targets? Just curious.

.22 is great for varmints. There are a pretty wide range of bullet weight/velocity options in .22.

The great thing about a lever gun like a Henry. 22 is that they will shoot and cycle .22LR, .22L and .22 short flawlessly. I can get 18 or 19 .22 shorts in my full size henry.

thanks, it sounds very practical as well as fun. That Henry and a Horsewright….or my trusty cowbell….would make a nice combination. Would a 22 kill a coyote depending on the distance?

Indeed, it is. I think a .22 is a must have...hugely under rated caliber. It is fun, pleasant to shoot with no recoil, great for kids, ladies, new shooters and seasoned shooters alike. You can literally shoot it ALL DAY with no ill effects, aside from an aching wallet. But today's ammo prices not withstanding, it's STILL the most affordable cartridge to shoot by far. It let's you develop and/or hone your fundamental shooting skills like shooting grip, sight alignment, trigger control/squeeze and breath control without having to worry about additional issues recoil can cause, especially to new/inexperienced shooters.

For sure. Horsewright knives look like they were made for matching with Henry's. John's cowbells too.

Yes, absolutely. Distance is the primary limitation of the .22 due to small case capacity(lower velocity) and light bullet, with shot placement being second, due to the lighter bullet weight. My cousin has killed several coyotes with a .22. I know a few shadier type dudes that kill deer with them, legalities be damned. Lol.

Agreed with J. Doyle J. Doyle

I have killed quite a few coyotes at my Aunt’s horse property over the years with a .22. A .22 short is sufficient at close range out of a rifle, that’s what I usually use when I’m sitting out by the chicken coop waiting for them to try and get in, around 30 yards. Head shots are best, but heart/lungs work too.
