Purple! Because Ice cream has no bones!

Home from 3 weeks on the road. 4600 mile round trip out to Ohio and back. Visited with family I hadn't seen in a long time, it was a good trip.

23 knives out this year, 10 of which I made in March alone. April was pretty much sucked up by the trip, gonna be taking some Dibs as soon as I can get a Newsletter written up!

Hope everyone is good!

I was in a wreck a couple of weeks back. Not a bad one, just a young gal in a Toyota pickup that lost control and landed right in front of me with nowhere to go. The plastic pieces and hood needed to be replaced on my car. I had to drive a 2026 Jeep Wrangler 4 door Rubicon for 3 weeks or so.
I got my car back a few minutes ago. It's so nice having legroom again.

Oh man I always wanted a Rubicon...UNTIL I drove a Rubicon. My left shoulder would freeze in the winter time. It had the insulation of a paper sack.

I drove one years ago for a while when the Unlimited Rubicon came out. A bump in the road would jar the 4x4 lever down and out of gear, it was great to be thrown into 2 wheel drive randomly, especially in mud! I think it got negative miles to the gallon in a 3mph headwind. In a crosswind your steering wheel would be upside down fighting it. It was great for getting in tight places off road though and the lockers were insane. I wasn't a fan, ok, rant over.

Roy in a '40 LaSalle and a '40 Ford enters the chat....

We were sitting at a rest stop in Kentucky when these rides pulled up, I heard a "Whoa!" from Roy and he jumped out and ran over there and asked the guy in the Ford "Is that a '40 or a '41?" There was an older couple in each car and needless to say they were all best friends instantly. Roy started talking about the difference between a '40 Deluxe and the standard and how this was a Deluxe because of the grill inserts. Not bad for an 11 year old. Their jaws were on the floor and I think they would have adopted him on the spot. They let him climb around both cars for a while, he was in heaven. One of the ladies couldn't stop hugging him and insisted on getting a mailing address so she could add him to her Christmas card list. I think he made their day, they were from Kentucky and were on an 800 mile trip to a car gathering somewhere in New England if I remember correctly.

Roy's been studying Auto Traders and Hemmings motor news since he was 5 or 6 and his knowledge of classic cars is incredible. I used to have to correct him but now he corrects me when we see an old car.

My Dad's side of the family has been wheelers and dealers of old cars forever. He got to be around and drive in so many old cars in this trip he was in heaven.

That is so cool! Nobody hurt in the rollover btw. It was my daughter and her boyfriend down from ID for KOH.

Glad no one was injured, nice looking car by the way. I never drove a Rubicon, I usually always had trucks.

Thank you, sir. No injuries was a blessing. There were three young ladies in the pickup, it could have been bad.
I lost my front plate in the wreck. I had just gotten my personalized plates and hadn't noticed it when we pulled off the road.
My girlfriend's last name is Wilde. Her plates say WLDE1. I got 2WILDE gor my car. The cop on the scene got a kick out of it.

This reminds me of our family Olds Vista cruiser station wagon, there were 8 of us jammed into the station wagon ( six kids plus mom and dad ) and my dad had made a brown box he placed in to- to carry all our luggage. We went on trips to see relatives in Lancaster county PA, you knew the things you would see along the way and you knew when you hit Amish country as the manure on the farm fields would be quite lovely!!! I used to wonder if they had my family in mind when Fakily ‘vacation came out, my sister would laugh and say that is us.

Something like this except more darker and had imitation wood paneling in the side too. Not sure if the Brady bunch had one like it .
