Purple! Because Ice cream has no bones!

Welcome back John! All good here. How was the trip?
Good times, camped at the beach down in San Clemente for a week with the wife's siblings. Wandered through some oddball spots along the way. Been in 11 states this year. CA, AZ, NV, UT, ID, MT, WY, CO, NM, OK, TX. The kids have seen more country than I did by the time I was twice their age, which is good. Winding down the travelling, been on the road a lot since March, looking forward to enjoying winter at home (and by home I mean the shop!!).

Saw this knob on a column shift '50ish Plymouth. It was yard art out in Rachel, NV. Some kind of acrylic I'm guessing, thought that was pretty cool. I wonder what decade that was popular in, I doubt it was factory.

We eeked through the corner on 87 on our way back from TX in March. I was humming TVZ the whole way.

Just renewed my membership, expired last month, oops! Got back recently from a 3k mile road trip, good to be home. How's everyone doing?
Sounds like you had a great trip. My life has been turned upside down in a great way. Today was my last day driving trucks. On black friday I'll start my new job as a crematory operator in beautiful San Jose. I moved to Scott's Valley, just north of Santa Cruz. SWMBO is treating me like the King that I am. I even bought a little car to go to work in.
BTW, A kia K5 has a ton of legroom.

Great to hear Mack! A good woman is a wonderful thing. Good lookin car, last year I was driving and saw a black car in the rear view coming up fast. I thought man that's like a Bentley or some kind of serious exotic. I told Mel something fancy was about to pass us, as it got in front of us we saw the Kia logo and I was pretty surprised, I honestly thought it was a six figure kind of job. At the time I looked it up but I can't remember what model Kia it was but it was a good lookin ride, might have been one of those.
Hey, John!
Hey good to see you man! I've been so absent lately I was afraid there might be crickets in here!

Welcome back sir! I do that almost every year, forget to pay up and then none of my stuff works here on BF. Ya know there's a big 50 amp plug on the side of the shop next time ya got that big ol machine in Cali! Did quite a bit of traveling our own selves. Idaho once and just back from south east Oregon. We was picking up Mitchy The Kid in Or. He's getting to be all grown up.

Mack you're gonna love that car. We had one some years back. Daughter was playing Bball in college and there was a lot of traveling involved for us parents. So we leased one of those to save putting miles on the truck. We all loved that car. Cost me a third of the shop though. Damn rodents ate the wiring harness. No more parking outside!

We'll get down there and see you sometime Dave, hopefully next year.

I've always been a fan of Rte 66, I used to live on it in Arizona. One of my favorite 66 towns since I was a kid was Amboy, CA out in the middlenof nowhere. We went throigh there on this trip and started talking to some guys in the old diner, which is now like a gift shop mostly. They were a small group that gets together each year and goes four wheeling out in the desert for a couple of weeks. They invited us to camp with them across the road and were a pretty fascinating bunch. Ex Fire Chief, Engineers, Pilots, gear heads, all around renaissance men. It reminded me of the old timers that my Grandpa used to hang out with which is funny because he was the one that used to take me through Amboy and is the reason why I have good memories from it. They were a part of a fraternal order called "Clampers", anyone ever heard of it? Good times at camp with them, the kids had a blast. They appointed Roy the fire tender, which he was more than happy to oblige snd kept the campfire blazing. Anywho, the point of the story is there's a car show in Amboy in early March, if weather permits, (a big IF up here), we might run down there for the show and will look at stopping by and visiting.

Saw this at a rest area the other day.

We were at Seligman there on 66 one time years ago and I can tell ya for a fact that lil diner is haunted! So having breakfast early and then heading out to the Diamond A headquarters (where my son Logan worked at the time), to look with a couple of friends that were with us at a couple of horses they had for sale. It's about 6 am and we're suppose to be at headquarters (18 miles away) at 8. We are literally sitting there watching the post cards throw them selves out of the rack and onto the floor. The waitress comes over and says, "It's just Tom". She walks into the gift side of the place and shushes Tom away and picked up the cards, organized them and put them back into their respective slots. Locals a couple of tables over: "Yeah Tom does that sometimes." I kid you not, I sat there fork half way up to my face and watched those post cards throw themselves onto the floor.

Let Roy know that was my job too back in April when we dropped Mitchy off in Or. We went to a branding and I became chief log thrower in the branding fire:

Occasionally I'd put a line of dirt across the handles on that log to keep the handle from getting too hot.

That's why we carry knives

Due to a bunch of conflicting schedules we did TDay at my brothers on Sunday just passed. Nichole's cousin and her family stayed at our place. Monday morning Mom wanted to take a couple pics of her boys before they hit the road. I'll just have to say that Logan did a great job of training Mitchy. Even how to smile for a photo!
