Maple border looks great Scott, what are the inlays?
That thar is one sexy custom whackadoo too!
Thanks Johnny inlays are Paduk, Jarah & Blackwood. That damn knife on the board is the best still cuts and chops like a dream. :)

That is insanely cool.

That wackadoo looks like one heck of a camp knife!

The cutting board, sweet too!

I was just ogling several of my custom fixed blades. They are all seriously sharp but one is different from the others. My Phillip Patton blade is hollow ground. The edge is insanely thin.
Have you tried a hollow grind? I'd love to hear opinions on different grinds.

I see what you mean. Knice.
I'm picturing something like this...

If you knew the designer of that knife, Mack, like I do, you wouldn't pick him up or put him out...

His design just Bowles me over.

I'll tell you a story some time - a story about a father, his crippled son, and Rick. It's not a good story. :poop:

I'd love to try hollow grinds, a bit of equipment cost for a radius platen or a wheel. I like the idea of a radius platen, I'll have to keep my eye out for one.

Let's keep our house clean here gents;)

I think I just saw Model #3 in my head. Bullnosy goodness.

Context - Rick Bowles is an authorized Randall Made Knives dealer, one of but a few with his own Dealer Special available only through him; he's also their only authorized scrimshander. So, for posterity sake, I let my feelings be known by publishing this photo in the Dealer Special section of my Randall Knives reference book. A RB/DS with scrimshaw by Garbo, aka Gary Williams. The book is a high-quality binding, and will likely outlive us all. And there you have it... ;)

p dot s - that there is funny, I don't care who you are... :D

Who actually designed that blade?

Honestly I would rather see a nice flat ground kitchen knife than a hollow ground blade.

I don't see what benefit a hollow ground blade would have, other than aesthetics for some.

Unless we are talking about straight razors, I guess.

ETA: That's not to say I think hollow ground knives can't be great, they just aren't my preference.
