Purple! Because Ice cream has no bones!

Carver, Cleaver, Nessmuk, Ulu. We may have to do a poll!

I'd like to see a cleaver. What would we be looking at for size?

I don't know a damn thing about cleavers, I'll have to do some research. Maybe a smaller one that you could use in the kitchen. Then again I don't know that the knurled handle would be a great idea here, not the easiest to clean.

I say make a Head knife. It's useful and you can refine your technique for when you make your good buddy to the north one ,,

That's a good idea, make it a through tang, or split it into scales and do a full tang?

A hidden tang would be nice, just shape the end into a ball.

OK - as long as you guys are brainstorming - sounds painful - I propose a full tang/split scales throwing cleaver .

The end of the tang should protrude about 1/2" past the scales (for obvious reasons) and of course the scales should be pinned and epoxied. The cleaver blade itself should be about 4" long (about 2-1/2" to 3" max tall) and have an extra sweep to the leading edge resulting in a bit of a leading point AND the spine should come nearly straight off the top of the scales - maybe only an 1/8" higher .

Can you see it in your minds eye - or is it too stormy in there? :D

I'm only kind of kidding. This would be a one off of historical significance. Of course I just described a $200.00 plus custom with a fake stag handle - oops!

... and John was enthusiastic that I found my way over here to Redmeadow and T.Knotts Knives  Sometimes less (fewer) is more don't 'cha know.

Wait, Ray may be onto something here, a throwing cleaver! But, why think small? How about a matched pair, throwing cleaver and throwing carver? See where I'm going here? Split the handle material, put half on each knife (Strider does this with great success), and Viola, there you are. Sometime less is more... ;)

Melvin - are you being sarcastic  ????

GREAT - :D ;)

Et voila we have viola - I thought from the photo you were about to propose throwing stringed instruments or adding strings to "my" throwing cleaver.

Oh - and I forgot to mention (but am reminded by seeing the instruments) the balance has to be "tuned" for a throwing cleaver to throw properly.

Onward ...

Cleaver and a Head knife, we may have to do both of these. If this small cleaver can be functional I'm game.

Shel, a carver will have to wait for a real piece of stag, that would be cool.
