Push Dagger Style Prototypes . . . We Need Your Help!!! . . . Pick Your Top 3!!!

What I described is for your money the best push dagger design there is. I know that sounds arrogant but I don't care. I've carried one of the many I own on my person for more than 2 decades.. daily.

A push dagger should be between your pointer and middle finger knuckles. No others. Those are the knuckles you punch with.

Anyone telling you to use your middle and ring finger knuckles as the impact point on a punch doesn't know enough about punching. That's a great way to break your fingers. Ask me how I know.
I Am in Complete Agreement with Aries, Above (Partial Quote: for the rest, Go read his original post on Page 9, I believe.)

Carried & Used P/D's for 2 decades, and One had Better Punch from the first two fingers (Index & Middle) Not the middle & ring. IF you use the "standard" grip of between the middle & ring fingers, then perform a Slash Cut or A Snap Cut, or even a Draw Cut in a Forward or Upward direction, your ring finger Will Break if you hit a hard object, even bone. Or at least have the likely chance to.

Now, having said that: the grips CAN simply be held that way, even with the Blade Stem protruding in its design from the middle of the weapon. One merely holds the knife Asymmetrically.
I Always practice the Grip with the Blade between the punching fingers: the Index & Middle.
Perfect Practice Makes Perfect.

Yet, Since Busse Combat is Contemplating a “New” Push Dagger Design, I would certainly Vote for an Asymmetrical Blade Stem to Accommodate the Hand, Instead of having the Hand accommodate the Knife… Busse Combat has Never shied away from Asymmetry before (Edge Grinds, Handles) So Why Start Now, so as to accommodate other Makers’ previous conventions ? ?

This has been a Busse Combat Service Announcement for the Protection of Those Who Must Defend...

2, 10, 8

(Only picked 8 because I cant carry daggers where I'm at. So a single edge push knife is the only style I've ever carried).

Honestly why not move the blade all the way to the left and just be an extension of the "quillon"

Which honestly isn't a bad design at all if it was released. It's actually one of my preferred designs for hig stress low skill scenario. But, it is a different blade design than push dagger...

Pretty neat, especially if you get your finger in there. I'd just be worried about trying to get the finger in, if you are in a pinch... probably would just grab it as a regular (all be it pistol grip) knife and slash away. But, would definitely avoid double edge on top as that's where the thumb would end up...unless you add a little "spur" or thumb stop there, that will prevent thumb riding up.

If you can make 8's shape and finger layout with 2's {or 10's) handle , and 10's blade. That's the money Jerry. For real

Those are my three but I don't like either of them the way they sit. What I described is for your money the best push dagger design there is. I know that sounds arrogant but I don't care. I've carried one of the many I own on my person for more than 2 decades.. daily.

P.S. Thanks for finally making a push dagger.. I have been very vocal about my need of this things existence lol. Imo the best strictly combat oriented blade that exists. You Rock Bussman!
You need to be trained to punch to expect this, but it is almost true.
Some might swing round house ,
If you punch with your wrist and hand vertical, horizontal puts your elbow at risk of being broken. No matter what grip..
A middle and ring would work fine for a jab..or a slash…
It al depends on what you know….

I'm saying a proper punch is thrown using the middle and pointer knuckles.. even hooks.
