Pussification of America - My Rant

Ahhhh. This thread does my heart good to see so many Men stand up and speak out about the Pussification of America. I've always called it 'The Feminization' of America, but both titles work. It's been going on for decades. I'm glad there's actually a group of men who recognize it for what it is. I was beginning to feel all alone :(.

When I speak to other people about what I believe is taking place, some look at me like I was a kook, others will nod their head in agreement but you can tell it's just to pasify me. A few actually get it. It's my belief that this "thing" that has been happening to our Men has been well planned and implemented for many, many years.

If you look back in time, I'm betting you can spot about when it started...well...if you're over 40 or so you probably can. It started with the act of making the Dad of the family the goof. This still happens today. How many TV shows (or commercials) can you name where the Dad is the dufus of the show? How many can you name that the mother, daughter or sister is the dufus?

It has seemed to me that this is just part of the attack on the traditional family. One where Men were the head of the family. At some point in time, it became "not cool" for Dad to be the leader of the family as he was designed to be. Somehow, somewhere, Mom wanted to become the leader. Just try and suggest that a woman can't do anything a man can and see what happens! This includes everything from combat to felling trees to pulling people out of burning buildings.

Over this same amount of time, the bar has been lowered so people who would not otherwise be considered a "Man" now can be considered their equal. This not only includes women, but many males as well.

How have we gotten to the point where standing up to a bully in school will actually get the one standing up to them in more trouble than the bully? When I was in school, you dealt with a bully one of two ways. You made it very uncomfortable for him to pick on you through your fist or you ran away.

Is it any wonder that a lot of this "pussification" we're calling it started around the same time this document was published? I reread this document about every other year or so and it's unnerving how much they've accomplished since 1963. Here is one of their goals and I'd say they're doing a good job of it.

40. Discredit the family as an institution. Encourage promiscuity and easy divorce.

Lot's of people who read this wonder why 'easy divorce' would be a goal. Because the people who wrote this knew that once you broke up the family, Mom would be raising the kids for the most part. There would be no dominate male influence in their lives, or if there were, it would be very little.

I see this in today's times. I'm a Royal Ranger Commander and a large part of my class is made up of boys from single parent homes. All these boys live with their mothers. When I first took over, I could immediately tell which boys came from a traditional family and which came from a home where Mom raised them. The boys without Fathers are such wimps for the most part, it's not even funny. I have 9 and 10 year old boys who will cry like babies at the drop of a hat. At last night's meeting, the oldest one cried because he lost at a game of Big Buck Hunter (it's a TV video game). He sat in the corner and cried like he'd just lost his best friend. Sadly, it's not the first time. When we go on outings, many of them are scared of their own shadows and don't want to do anything except sit around and snack on junk food.

I guess the short of it is that, yes, the Pussification (or Feminization) of America is real and it isn't any accident that it's taking place. Not only is it due in a large part to the media and those on the Left, but it's due to too many of our young boys being raised by a single Mom or by "girly men" dads who won't get out in front of a computer or away from ESPN to teach their boys how to become a real Man. It's also due in part because too many men today are willing to compromise their moral beliefs. It's too easy to flip flop on what you believe in so long as someone doesn't look down on you. Shudder the thought of being ridiculed by friends and family for standing up for what's morally right and for what you believe in!

I think / hope I am doing my part to hold back the tide. My kids have stayed in a hotel once when we had a out of state funeral and my son was upset about it he wanted to camp like we have for every vacation . my daughter carry's a pocket knife and from time to time just sits down to whittle. Next week I am going with my sons scout troop for a week of camping in Colorado.

To be honest, some people should stay in the city.

I don't know how many times my GF and I go on a hike and see a bunch of kids littering and just there to drink.

Not as bad as in Canada. I get called a hick for wearing hiking shoes and having a pocketknife.

That's because you just had one knife.
I had 3 on me today along with steel toed boots...didn't get called anything. ;)

It's not just America, but most of Western society; the same is happening here in the UK. As a father of 2 boys, I shudder at the "role" models they are often shown on the television and other media.

I blame MTV and music.

I was raised outdoors while my siblings were raised by the TV.

My sisters know so much about music and 'other' peoples lives they know nothing about their own.

Stabman: I usually wear steel toes and carry a medium-sized folder, small fixed blade, and a mid-sized or mini multitool and never get called anything either. Could be that I live in Lotus-Land (Vancouver) though, it's a pretty casual culture.

As for the original topic and experiencing the great outdoors, I try to get my own kids out whenever possible and they enjoy nature and learning new skills though none of us are experts by any means. That said though, society has changed a lot in the past century and just because a fella doesn't get out and rough it or throw a ball around doesn't mean he isn't a man or that he isn't a good father. Some people just don't enjoy those things and that's fine. Not my place to put myself and my hobbies on a pedestal and sneer down at the folks who live by a different set of values.

That's spot on. This 'real lives of X housewives' crap as well as overwhelming converage whatever some 'K' sister is doing is obscene. They're famous for being nothing other than famous and can't even hardly live any form of a stable life. I saw one of those knuckleheads on a talk show discussing a high seven figure watch she had just purchased that cost more than some people's houses. She was trying to come off as semi-coy, and that she had traded in some other six/seven figure watches for it as partial payment, so it wasn't that bad. WTH???? Barf. And most 'real' house wives generally aren't running around with nannies and all the other BS drama...Don't even get me started on these 'My superduper 16th B-day' party-type shows. I unfortunately stopped on a channel and saw one where some little brat was throwing a hissy fit because her parents, as a 'joke' brought up a brand new Nissan SUV (Xterra IIRC) as her gift, and that just was totally NOT acceptable. 'Oh, ha ha honeypumpkin, we were just kidding,' --we wouldn't let you be seen behind the wheel of that piece of junk, here's your new Benz convertible...well, then that was ok. How in the living H are normal folks trying to make ends meet (like me) supposed to compete with that kinda crap. Actually, its fairly simple. You don't let your kids spend too much (any) time watching that kind of BS fiction (hopefully I can figure out how to block those channels)... so go out side, ride your bike, go for a hike, etc. Just gotta monitor the internet use as best you can...

And on the other side, I don't want to suggest that fathers being highly involved/invested with the proper raising of the children is a bad thing. I have multiple little ladies in my life. In the past couple years, I've probably changed 1000+ diapers and watched them for a couple days by myself. Helped them with teething in the middle of the night, and with various little boo-boos. As a matter of fact, I had to interrupt typing this post so I could go do the 'pee pee dance' with one of them (we're potty training) after one of the first successful 'tinkles' in the training potty. I am secure enough in my masculinity to admit that, and any devoted father that is looking forward to the day of not having to buy a couple more cases of huggies will completely sympathize with me. Does that make me a wimp? Only to those who don't have a clue. I don't have to go send a few .44 Mags down range or fondle my Busse FFBM to restore my testosterone level to the proper level. But it wasn't so many generations ago where that was considered 'woman's' work, and the father wouldn't 'stoop' to it (indeed, my own father seldom changed diapers from what I hear--but it was a different time and circumstance). I don't necessarily agree with that. I'd say a little less time down at the watering hole or parked in front of the football game rather than helping (not taking over) raising the kids is a good thing. Being a positive, involved, father in just about any capacity is a GOOD thing.

**Funny side story, I was at a pre-3 kid class during the start and one of the grandmothers who was there with her grandkid (mom/dad probably *hopefully* at work), and the woman was talking how grandpa (probably retired) had too much work to attend the class. But then she did mention that 'Grandpa' also had a weekly breakfast get-together with his buddies on that particular day of the week. Hmmm, grandpa didn't want to give up his get-togethers to go baby sit his grandkid and 15 other screaming sub-3 year olds for a couple hours??? Go figure, grandpa probably figured he already paid his dues...

But back on track, I plan forthose little ladies will be confident and capable. They will know how to change a tire, check the oil, and fill the tank (amazing how many people can't do the first two). They will know how to use basic tools and do minor jobs around the house. They will know how to run a lawn mower and do basic labor. And we will get outdoors. They will know basic navigation, trail skills, and how to camp (mom is actually experienced to a degree with the latter two--as long as there aren't any spiders around). And when some boy thinks he's going to 'teach' one of them how to handle that 'big, manly' gun, he's going to learn real quick that maybe he is in fact going to be the one who gets schooled a bit. Now weather they continue to use these skills throughout their lifetime, I dunno, that's beyond my control, but they will leave from under my roof with them.

This is also not to say that they won't also know the basics of keeping a home clean and orderly. The will also know the basics around a kitchen, how to run a vacuum, unclog the toilet similar related chores (if I can do them, so can they). Unfortunately these 'basics,' which contrubite hugely to a good, orderly home have often been demeaned and/or criticized (often by rich TV celeb types that have a cleaning staff and personal chef) to near the point that those that perform them are cast as somehow being subservient. Nothing is further from the truth. Regardless of gender, being able to contribute to a clean, well run home should be a thing of pride, and rightful so.

It does chafe mom a bit tho, she obtained some childrens books that she had had as a child, again, from a different era (about 30 years ago). I poke fun that in the books, in them the mom is often depicted in an apron and doing chores. And one of the kid's responsibilities is to take Dad the paper so he can sit and relax...which I don't ever see happening any time in the near future for yours truly (ah, times gone by). Indeed, current child raising books sometimes say to the effect that as soon as Dad gets home, he's supposed to start his second job and take over with the kids...*sigh*

So obviously, I don't want them to be ignorant dolts that couldn't get themselves out of a wet paper bag or snotty brats. I want those skills they learn to be wrapped inside smart, confident, sophisticated ladies that are at as at home in an evening dress as they are in hiking gear. Smart, capable, confident ladies. It's a tall order, but that's the plan.

Bottom line is that being an involved father doesn't make you a 'wuss' or similar. Neither does being attentive and dare I say it, caring and compassionate when called for. You don't have to grow a beard, wear flannel and start smoking a pack a day. Just know when its time to grow a spine a bit (tougher in today's litigious society) and knowing what 'righty tighty/lefty loosy' means ought to be the bare minimum. Also calluse or two isn't the onset of a disease to be feared.

Just my $.02 worth.

I agree 100%. When I was younger my parents couldn't keep my brother an I in the house for more than 15 minutes. Now days kids don't even want to be outside for longer than 15 minutes lol. I don't want to get political in this thread but imagine the type of people they'll vote for later on. It's a scary thought for me.

Boy this thread hits home with me to! I've been accused of being "Rambo'd up" and compared to the folks on SWAMP PEOPLE and MOUNTAINMEN! I'll agree I love to hunt and fish, I love my knives and guns to! This whole pussifying of America is so ridiculous it makes me sick! I retired two years ago after serving 33 years as a detective and street cop in a medium sized Mass. city of 65,000 people. I've been carrying a handgun EVERYDAY since 1977. IT's with me wherever I go. Woods, city, fields, etc. At least 2 knives on me at any time. One big folder and a traditional. I always love it when I speak to people that have no idea of self-reliance, hunting and eating their what they kill, growing some vegetables, etc. I see these boys/teenagers, with their pants hanging off that can't do a thread of physical labor(never mind defend themselves). The new American male is a JOKE! Perhaps we need to name them something else. Then society wonders why folks like us go live in the mountains. No surprise to me! Thanks

IMO much of it has to do with the breakdown of the family unit. Having both parents in the hiome is more rare than it used to be.
In my 5th grade sons class, there are only 5 kids out of 28 that have both parents in the home.
I also think that too many people have "champagne taste on a beer budget". I know some men that work stupid amount of overtime to pay for all the things they realisically can't afford. Then the have no time to use the dirtbike, snowmachine, ski-boat, etc. The time they have off is spent just sitting around exhausted to recover from the 60+ hr week.
I used to work 300+ hrs of OT a year until kids came. There were alot of lifestyle changes that I though would be hard nd I was right.....at first at least.
Going out to dinner 2-3 nights a week for your favorite Thai place is no longer a reality for me.
Niether is a new vehicle every 2 years.
That's OK cause now I get to raise my boys and hopefully prevent them from being pussies.

The pussifcation of our children cannot be denied. I believe it is actually being encouraged by the powers that be. Why? Because a feminized society is much easier to control. You can call me crazy, thats fine. But thats how I see it.

I have a 2 year old son and another on the way. They will be taught the value of God, guns, and love of country. In that order. They will attend private school, have very limited time with electronic gaming, and be kept busy with sports and the Boy Scouts (although the recent decision by the Scouts is very disheartening). It helps to have a wife that feels the same way, and luckily I do.

Carrying a gun in the shower is overboard, carrying a gun camping is not.

I think that's about enough. You can go on as long as you like in the Political Arena, though. This was an unfortunate title for any other forum.
