Some people, such as myself, met those requirements, but did not get a chance to post in the thread you mentioned before it was locked, but also managed to be active enough on this form to see the order thread and get a knife ordered.
The interest thread was open a lot longer and followed a logical process that lasted weeks and months.
People that were paying any attention at all during that time were able to get in on the interest thread, there wasn't a loly-scramble.
But actually ordering a knife, blink and you are out... should not be the way it is for a knife that's supposed to represent the forum and those people contribute to almost daily.

I agree with you. The ordering process for this knife could have been improved. I was thinking of the thread where it was asked how many you would order. I never got a chance to post there, but I did participate in various polls for the forum knife.

But I'm just talking to the wind.
The regularly contributing Porch members are the only ones that really care about this, and we are a minority in this process.
And here we are mucking up our own house by complaining about such things. I will stop complaining and let things happen as they will.

I am never one to post without reason. This forum is literally the only one I browse any more on Blade forums. I spend a lot of hours reading threads and looking at pictures and admiring traditional knives. In the past several years I have collected quite a few GECs and when the forum knife was posted a while back I was excited because I had never gotten in on one before. The rules originally fit my posting habits, and since I check and read the forums regularly I saw the post this morning and quickly went to order. I did not see the new rider "in the traditional forums" amendment before I ordered. I always assumed that there would be enough knives made based upon interest from the original thread months back- and the fact I posted there saying I was in was enough. I guess how they were going to be sold changed. I am sorry and if they want to go manually cancel my order based upon Quiets dilligent snitchposts- go ahead. I'll still continue posting here and reading forums, under my terms. I am very active in the knife community elsewhere and this is one small place I post and read.

And I might add, I don't know if his estimate of 9 in traditional knives is correct, since he didn't scour my whole post history and at this point... what is the point?
Wait, is this who I think it is? AKB?

It's simple...
Qualified people that signed up for the original "interest thread" should have had priority registration.
This 100%. I thought that was part of its purpose.

I actually raised the question last week in the other thread after it was said the number of knives was 500, and I did a quick count from the interest thread. I was strongly advised in that thread to change the subject.

There should have been extra precautions taken at that point, but there were not. No surprise we are where we are, especially with the nature of this year’s knife.

only 500? Well that explains why the terms changed. Sorry everyone.

It’s sad what has happened to the porch. I’m glad I got one of the BF knives, at this rate their may never be another one. Keep it up new guys,
Nothing happened to the porch, it’s this same thing every year, slightly different people having the same arguments. My first year was the 2016 TC Barlow and it was just like this. I was in early enough and made the cut but missed the ordering thread but was able to snag a leftover one after they were all shipped and everyone was taken care of.

I just mean all the drama in this thread man, the porch is still the porch in my book. I’ve only been around for 4 or 5 years, sad I can’t remember even that, haha. Probably didn’t help thst GEC is so on fire right now either.

CASE is not flavor of the day and a flipper's dream. So I'm not sure you would get the same quantity ordered if it was CASE.
Agree, plus seems like we have checked on this multiple times. If I recall correctly the last time it was checked on they were not interested. The recent details are buried somewhere in the 2018-2019 forum threads I think.

Listen folks, we’ve got minor knifery royalty here, or at least, you know, that guy whose voice you’ll recognize.

I for one vouch for and vote that M mhanlen aka the Advanced Knife Bro be allowed to order a BF86 with the caveat that he must give us a good honest review and use the thing, which I know he will. Def enjoyed previous GEC reviews and/or comparisons with other slipjoint models on his channel and have bought quite a few different knives based on his reviews. I want to see the BF86 get the AKB treatment. Can we make it happen waynorth waynorth ?

I requested two knives. Had read we could only have one, that is cool. Went to the site and it seems like I'm SOL.
What was the purpose if this was going to be "first come first serve".
I think that was to gauge how many to have made. I would say wait a little bit until the settles. There have to be people that bought them and won’t pass the vetting process. I’ve got to think that those knives will be available to upstanding porch members.

Yeah, that’s what we should do. Allow non-participatory Youtubers to get these knives before contributing members of this forum do. Makes a lot of sense. 😒

Thank you for the response. I am digging in my profile to see if I have 50 posts this year in traditional, I don't exactly count them. Will still enjoy reading and looking at pocket knives regardless. The GEC craze is evidently higher than what I thought (knew it was high and has been). Cheers to all and best regards Ode

Yes they are sold out!! There are a few left in reserve, but we can't release them until the numbers coalesce, and we actually get the knives!! It's a good thing we stopped as there were several attempts to buy multiple knives!! &%#^@#*& flippers I am sure!!
The few that are left, we will offer to long-time contributors who missed this train, but some time in the future!!
You, who were asleep, but belong here, don't give up hope!!

My friends, don't fall for the flippers!! If you see a knife for sale, for a whack of money, don't buy it!! And give them bad press and tell them where to put it!!🤬

I go to work at the office for one day and look at what happens! 😩

Never heard of him... But I don't watch YouTube reviews.
But I have heard of meako meako and willard0341 willard0341 They are our friends and should get a knife.
Hopefully there will be extras to take care of the Porch Regulars like these guys who contribute frequently and signed up for the "interest thread".
