Listen folks, we’ve got minor knifery royalty here, or at least, you know, that guy whose voice you’ll recognize.

I for one vouch for and vote that M mhanlen aka the Advanced Knife Bro be allowed to order a BF86 with the caveat that he must give us a good honest review and use the thing, which I know he will. Def enjoyed previous GEC reviews and/or comparisons with other slipjoint models on his channel and have bought quite a few different knives based on his reviews. I want to see the BF86 get the AKB treatment. Can we make it happen waynorth waynorth ?
don’t tell them that! They’ll hate me here!

It's simple...
Qualified people that signed up for the original "interest thread" should have had priority registration.
They have been involved in the whole process longer than the "Johnny Come Lately" bunch.
If a regularly contributing forum member like @meako misses out on the forum knife, that would make me very sad.

Nope.

Thank you for the response. I am digging in my profile to see if I have 50 posts this year in traditional, I don't exactly count them. Will still enjoy reading and looking at pocket knives regardless. The GEC craze is evidently higher than what I thought (knew it was high and has been). Cheers to all and best regards Ode
I’m sure you qualify, I see you around here a lot.

Give him yours?

You have 814 posts here according to your profile. It's just the total for all time, not in one year if I understood correctly.

What does knife royalty mean? I don't think that's a thing, at least not for someone who doesn't actually make knives. Who is advanced knife bro, what do they do and why would we recognize their voice?

Never heard of him... But I don't watch YouTube reviews.
But I have heard of @meako and willard0341 willard0341 They are our friends and should get a knife.
Hopefully there will be extras to take care of the Porch Regulars like these guys who contribute frequently and signed up for the "interest thread".
No one "signed up" for the interest thread. It was simply a thread to gauge interest. I think it pretty clearly said it was not a sign up thread.

No one here would like me, no one cares, move on. I make YouTube videos about knives and the people who use them. That’s all- he was just joking around.

I‘ve seen a few of his tube videos and I’m amazed he still has all of his fingers for how wildly he swings knives around and batons out of control 😂. I don‘t know if it’s satire for the reviews or the cigs and beer kicking in lol.

So I missed a day or so on the forum, have I missed out on the forum knife? I went to order one and it won't let me add one to the cart. Any info?

Shh. That and the GEC video will get me banned.
Well.... we have record of your shenanigans. ;)

At any rate, I am glad you see the value of GEC traditionals. They are a fine pocketknife and for many a way to connect with the past, and create new memories.

The gatekeeping is a side product of supporting contributing members who keep this place humming. There is a distinct possibility many who participate regularly, and even helped create The Porch BF knife, may not even get one due to the huge increase of new members clamoring over themselves to get one.

It's more than just a GEC. It's a representation of The Porch and the BladeForums community.

I looked up the AKB knife channel. Not much there on traditional knives.
After a bit of hunting I did find a review he did of the "Old Man's Knife" (his words) ... Bull Buster.
He had an issue with the fact that the knife doesn't have a pocket clip.
He then proceeded to destroy the knife with abuse and batoning and THEN had the gall to send it back to GEC for WARRANTY repair ... as though it was GEC's fault the knife broke and they should fix it on their nickle.
It appears as though once back from GEC ... he continued to abuse the knife, because the last seconds of the video display the knife with a broken backspring.
If someone wants to send him a BF knife to destroy ... that's up to you.

EDIT: after posting this comment, I see MolokaiRider MolokaiRider posted a couple of screen shots from the video I watched

Another dude who spammed posts yesterday to make the exact count (which I think is hilarious).

Quiet Quiet

Thanks for bringing this up!

BF member since 2009, lurker since well before that, read the traditional forum multiple times every day. Not a member of Facebook, Instagram or anywhere else, and never sell on ebay. Not a joiner, follower, photographer or whiner, so rarely do I feel I have much to add to the conversations, but love the knife content.

After participating in all the forum knife polls and the pre-ordering thread, and assuming from those earlier posts the stated post count of 25, which I was well above, I excitedly ordered yesterday. And when the 50 post count change was brought up I did set about to post another 7 posts to get over the hump, but none were spam or dredging up old content.

In all honesty a big thing holding me back from more frequent posting is what seems like a negative spirit of a few wannabe moderators (not the real moderators who are needed and do a great job) who enjoy policing threads, correcting others and complaining about what they don't get and how everything is against them. Not the kind of thing I like spending my time on, not fun, not neighborly. And makes someone who isn't part of the in crowd feel unwelcomed. I really don't get how adults can get such pleasure out of such things. But somebody's gotta be "that guy".

So yup, been around forever, super excited about the BF knife, ordered, realized I was short by 7 posts and rectified it. If that doesn't meet the spirit of the forum knife, and an authority figure such as Charlie waynorth waynorth tells me I shouldn't get one, I'll cancel the order myself. But is the witch-hunt and us vs. them that this has become really in the spirit of the forum knife and forum in general?
