Wait what?

Are you Delianie Walker in disguise? :)

I'll just add this, it's not entirely your fault. It's a thankless labor of love for a few who put in the time and effort.

Preset ordering firewalls might have helped, but managing this is a lot of work, and this community is grateful that we are even allowed to do this.

I certainly don't want any member whether brand new or joined at the Dawn of BF to feel alienated.

For those new members or ones who don't meet prerequisites...stick around and pull up a chair. Engage and share with fellow members. If you sit quietly outside staring in the window people won't get to know you.

Unless your an axe murderer. Then maybe it's best if you stay outside.

😂

*disclaimer*. This post is purely my opinion and worth zero monies.
I am not an axe murderer- but it sounds like an interesting job. I realize I’m double posting but I haven’t figured out how easily respond to two posts in the same reply while using Safari on an iPhone. I appreciate you being pretty nice to me. I have relearned a lot about blade forums today.

So what I'm hearing, is that you're doing the 2022 Bladeforums Knife, is that right?* Awesome 2022 BF Albers Jack with a clip-point in a nice Walnut? Whaaaaaaat, that's crazy!

* Kidding! Kidding....unless....🤪
I would do this.
Considering how bad is the GEC craze, I can’t even imagine what headaches an Albers forum knife would cause…

Seems I missed the boat. The process has, once again, been fun and I look forward to seeing everyone’s example. I’ll be curious how the hemlock turns out!
I don't think "fun" is accurate for following the process for months, voting numerous times in the polls, posting in the interested in purchasing thread, and then not getting a chance to order. There was no advance notice on when they'd go on sale. The knives were sold out before I got home from work. In years past we'd get a link via PM to order. No idea why that didn't happen this year.

Missing out is disappointing, the process was fun/entertaining for me though.

What key has Charlie likely worn out several times on his keyboard?
I don’t know! All I can do is channel my inner Charlie!!
I don't know! I bet we can find out, though! Just go back and check! I think I figured it out!
Really! You must share it with me!!
Ha! Takes all of one post to figure that one out!!!! Make the code harder!!
One post! I don’t believe it!!!

Lmao, awesome. My First forum knife ever and OOS when I went to order as soon as I saw the instructions.
Don’t lose hope- there’s some sorting out to be done still, and lots to be sold on the secondary at cost when folks inevitably want to pass it on. (At cost, right fellas?)

Listen folks, we’ve got minor knifery royalty here, or at least, you know, that guy whose voice you’ll recognize.

I for one vouch for and vote that M mhanlen aka the Advanced Knife Bro be allowed to order a BF86 with the caveat that he must give us a good honest review and use the thing, which I know he will. Def enjoyed previous GEC reviews and/or comparisons with other slipjoint models on his channel and have bought quite a few different knives based on his reviews. I want to see the BF86 get the AKB treatment. Can we make it happen waynorth waynorth ?
I vote NO.

ETA: never heard of him.

Well, I’ll be damned. Go away for two days, and look what happens.

I only hope the jokesters who were making sport with those who expressed concern about missing the order window are enjoying eating their words.

In the final analysis this is no big deal for me, as I would have just stowed my knife away in a drawer to admire occasionally, but I feel for those who came to the GEC game late, only to miss an opportunity once again. Further, this whole affair reinforces my belief that this annual goat-rope is the one time of year where this usually delightful place turns a bit ugly.

Sincere thanks to all those who give generously of their time and effort to make this happen. You are truly better men than I.

Its really the gec effect that have a lot of members on edge. Try not to judge the whole forum based off the forum knife threads or gec worship threads. Especially if the thread concerns both.

I was mostly a lurker not too long ago but you have to remind your self its a two-way street. If you are able to gain knowledge here you should share knowledge back into it so we can all learn from each other. And this goes for all lurkers.

Agree, plus seems like we have checked on this multiple times. If I recall correctly the last time it was checked on they were not interested. The recent details are buried somewhere in the 2018-2019 forum threads I think.
The reason I brought up Case in the first place is because they decently did a SFO for a company for 500 knives. Which assing we can get the numbers is what we got this year. Obviously case would have less interest but we MIGHT be able to...

Thanks for taking this on this year. I actually liked the unique checkout process - seems a bit cleaner than trying to process manual orders here.

Seems like some folks, who contribute regularly missed out and hopefully will be offered the ones of people who ordered but shouldn’t have. Others missed out because they only come to this forum once a year at forum knife time. I don’t feel too bad for them. I think it will all work out in the end. The mods have a pretty good handle on it I think and Barry can probably go through and cancel orders.

It's simple actually. If you wish to watch someone abuse an forum knife on YouTube and that person isn't a contributing member HERE, simply send him YOUR knife to pound into logs. Otherwise I'd much rather it goes to Meako, you know the guy actually INVOLVED in the process. Or any other member who IS a regular here but was offline at the time. The traditional subforum is really the only one I participate in here. To my understanding there is also a yearly Buck knife for people who participate in that subforum. I've posted maybe 2-3 times in the Buck forum, I don't try to weasel my way in there just to grab a knife.

I'd just like to say, i'm excited for my first barlow/GEC/1095 folder. I own a case medium stockman in amber jigged bone, the buck forum 301 knife with elk antler and a boker 4 blade congress in red bone (besides 3 buck 110's, but they're more "modern" to me). I've been after a barlow for a while now. I hope to get a good patina on it!

The man was joking! I spend a lot of time reading and perusing the forums here. My channel is mostly for entertainment. It’s about the knife hobby- things you should do and shouldn’t. The culture of the hobby, and poking fun at myself and people who take it too seriously. The original post way back when said it was 25 posts- not in the buying and selling forum. I saw the post yesterday when I came to check these forums as I always do- ordered quickly without reading the new rules. Had I known it was only 500- and the forum was going to melt down over it… I would have abstained. I even emailed gunstock jacks asking them to cancel my order. I come here to look at the knives, and read the nice posts, and look at collections. I’ve been doing YouTube for years and always have pretty positive interactions with people. Knife collectors.. Manufacturers. Retailers. Knife hobbyists. I also don’t talk about it much here. I’m spread pretty thin across my social media and I also have a full time job- so I participate in different corners and different ways. Here’s where I come to read posts look at pictures learn about what’s happening in the traditional world- people speculate why Bill killed SFOs for dozens of pages. I almost ordered the viper swayback forum knife prior. But was broke at the time and then ordered the standard version anyway. My channel and IG are out there for people to check out and get a feel for what I like in the knife world. Which is mainly autos traditionals and fixed blades- and what I love about this ridiculous hobby.
