Quality Slip Joint and Lock back ??

Given the strong following CRK folders have, I think there'd be quite an interest in such things. I'd like to see a more traditional design, perhaps offered with some newer materials like Ti, at this price range. A more traditional lockback with flawless F&F and some nice scales or other materials would be really compelling, especially at the $200 mark. Any idea what sort of things would be offered?

Given the fact that some of the handmade slip joint makers here can't produce knives fast enough to keep up with demand, then I would say it is very likely the response would be more than good.

I agree with the others here, in that price range I'd like to see it being American made as well. That being said, I'd be very interested in buying knives of that caliber.

A handful of makers who cannot keep up could mean a market of only dozens or even a hundred or so. For me to make this work I have to have a thousand or more. The cost of hireing and training knifemakers and buying the equipement is much too high for just selling a hundred or so knives a year.

The only way I will know is the feedback here, and of course when I mail the brochure on the first of these knives later this year to members of the Knife Collectors club.

I live and die by my once great Featherlite. For $200-300, and a premium product, I would be all over it.

I'd also be very interested A.G.

would an example sorta be like the Tony Bose Case collaboration line?

We definitely need more higher end slip joints. Those are harder
to find nowadays since most custom makers are going
tactical... or at least liner locks and one hand opening.

If I could get near custom quality for $2-300 I'd be in.
I think variety will be the key. You don't see too many
high end stockman.... or high end railsplitter stockman about 4"... hint hint.

Knives that make you go "wow that's really done well.... and it's different"
is what I usually look at. of course since i use all my knives, usability
is just as important. That best looking non-custom line right
now is Schatt & Morgan. I look at those and I have to keep
my credit card from flying out of my wallet. ;-)

Thanks, this is the kind of feedback I was hoping for. We sell lots of S&M but this will be a strong step up. What is a railsplitter?

A.G.,

First I heard of it was from the S&M line.
I'm guessing it's because the handle is split in the middle
by a peak. As in the 'rail' is split in the middle.... just a guess though.
Could be S&Ms own name. I've never heard it used by anyone else.
