Quality Slip Joint and Lock back ??

A.G.,
As much as I can appreciate your great efforts to deal higher-quality products, I must say that except in exteme exceptions $200-$300 is beyond what I spend for a single knife.

I do look foreward to seeing whatever you have in mind in the KCC mailing.

Sincerely,
Bob W.

I understand, that is how I feel about $1,000 -$2,000 knives which is the reason for the project.

The great thing is that there are lots of buyers for all those handmade Bose, Ruple, etc, etc and for the Reeve, Dozier, etc. etc. and for those like my new projects. None of us will ever sell as many knives as spyderco or benchmade or kershaw but we will satisfy our part of the market place.

A.G.,

I am sorry but for myself I cannot afford that kind of money on a knife. I don't have interest. I'm very satisfied with a $60 Queen slipjoint and the kind of fit and finish they offer. As far as lock backs go I am very pleased with my $35 Buck 110.

Slip-joint?
I don't know.

Lock-back?
A Buck Custom Shoppe 110 (BG-42, Koa Flamewood, finger-grooves, nickle-sliver bolsers, with possible a personal engraving...all for less than $160.00).

Well, nothing lasts forever, but, why not send it back and let me see if I cannot tighten it up. I have worn blades out sharpening but never had one get loose.

I lost the knife a couple of weeks ago. I appreciate the gesture though. I plan on buying yet another one fairly soon though. It seems the Featherlite is the only knife in my small collection that I don't get tired of.

I understand that. It has been my EDC for 15 years and I have lost more of them than I have worn out, and I use them daily.

To be honest, I don't see myself spending more than $100 for a slip joint. I am not a collector of knives for value, but for fun, variety and utility. I will use my knives. I couldn't find my Case last week, I was upset over a $45 knife, what would I do if I lost a $200 slippie. Case was in my gym bag, and all was right with the world. My most expensive slip joint is a Moore Maker and it was a little pricey for what I got. Love the knife, but FF were not what I would have expected for a near $100 knife - sharp edges, inconistant springs, one so heavy I broke my thumbnail while the other is very light.

My Featherlite has been a constant companion for several years. Sailing, fishing, hunting, gardening, cooking, edc - what a knife and a bargain!

ps, My Woodswalker is one of my favorites weekend knives.

either bone or wood. micarta if wanted

To me the reason to carry a slipjoint is the handle. I think the D2 steel in my Queen Abalone sm stockman is overkill, but I love the look. And it’s useful in the office environment. I'll confess that the price would be stretching it for me, but I’ve been looking for a high end unique looking slipjoint and tactical type folder so who knows. I’m probably not one to build a business model on but if it was what I’ve been looking for I’d go for it (after a few hours of overtime). Oh an bone or wood not the other.

What is the deal with Arkansas anyway? I have family in NW Ar and never really realized the knife history and lore. Heck it should be called The Knife State NOT The Natural State.

Hey AG you might want to post this thread in the
'Traditional Knives..' Forum. I'm not seeing any people that I would expect
to chime in.

I'm in for one at least. I'm always looking for the perfect slipjoint. So, a few more won't hurt.

What did you have in mind AG ? What would work with the machinery and materials already on hand?
Greg

I'm definitely interested. I've bought several of the Queen Scagel repro's as well as Queen Dan Burke collaborations, which are all superbly done and in the price range you're proposing. My sense is that these two lines have sold well, particularly the Scagel's, so I definitely think there's a market.

I'm excited already!

I would love it if you brought back the Texas Ranger toothpick. That was an incredibly beautiful knife, and its leaf shaped blade made it the most unique toothpick I've ever seen.

I am new here, but have been collecting awhile. Would be intersted in any design that combined a winny and a clip together or a spear single.

I like high-end slipjoints, especially multiblades. I also have the Queen Dan Burke Collaborations, as well as a couple of the Scagels. I would be very interested in what A.G. would offer in wood and /or bone, with additional interest in higher-end handle materials. I would be nuch less interested in such a floder with non-natural scales.

I would be even more interested if this were a custom collaboration of some type with a maker whose designs really appeal to me.

I have suggestions, but something tells me that A.G. already has something in mind.:D

Thaks, A.G.
