Just finished collecting every bit of info on these losers. I am appalled that they are still being sold by many of our favorite retailers. After watching videos and reading post and blogs I won't be ordering from any retailer that supports QM knives. I'd rather order counterfeits from dhgate than legit knives from dealers that back QM knives. What idiots you folks at BHQ are for interviewing them at SHOT from a hotel lobby. You just legitimize their existence by doing so. For yrs I've been harassing dealers at gun shows for selling knock offs and now the online retailers are basically doing the same the scum dealers do at shows. Luckily where I live there are plenty of places to purchase cutlery. Costs a bit more but that's where my loyalty lies.

This would be better suited in the good bad and ugly forum, that said, ignore the jerk and his nasty comments. He is a fan of scummy people and their knives and will defend them tirelessly.

On topic, I agree with your post. I know blade hq was called out on this before and blatantly blew it off.

I won't support them anymore either.

Must we do this weekly

Shockingly enough, you don't have to click on the thread.

Yeah, I like BladeHQ a lot, and I really want them to be on the right side of this one, but it's getting more and more difficult to overlook the gung-ho American Made description they carry. I honestly don't expect them to drop Quartermaster entirely, but given the very reasonable doubts about country of origin toning that down would do a lot to assuage my concerns.

Just drop the Country of Origin info, as a minimum.

Just asking, but why does everyone specifically knock Blade HQ for carrying/advertising CoO of these knives in every Quartermaster hate thread, but not Knifecenter, Knifeoutlet, GPknives, etc, etc?
They are hardly the only retailer that does this.

I think it's a fair gripe. People get up in arms about manufacturers from China copying things that aren't protected by IP laws but give American companies a pass on that and blatant lying by companies like quartermaster and microtech and Strider and a couple other well known companies including some makers of highly regarded "mid-tech" knives. If American companies get a pass, so should Chinese companies. And vice versa. If Chinese companies can be ridiculed and ostracized for lying and stealing so should American companies who commit those acts and retailers who sell them.

The crap list also includes New Graham, GP Knives, and Knife center. I did find that KnivesPlus does not carry QM. I did see BHQ's response and it was weak. One forum member commented about money over morals and they were right.

Because BHQ interviewed am from a hotel lobby twice during SHOT. You can find this via YouTube. Where's their booth? They have only a P.O. box and no telephone number. BHQ was confronted on the forum and did nothing but complain. I'll be contacting others this week to question them. It appears that the knife community (manufacturers) are at a point of tough competition. There has been a lot of negativity between them such as Kershaw vs. Microtech and Cold Steel vs. CRKT. I hope that manufacturers don't start acting like politicians. I remember the mid 90's when knife companies were booming and everything was hunky-dory. QM if you'd just been honest. Now no one can even believe what steel your knives are made from or even if you'd honor a warranty. Very ugly.

Here's the deal, as I see it.

If a dealer, any dealer, is going to advertise products as Made in the USA, it has both an ethical and legal obligation to have a reasonable factual basis for making that claim. Where, as is the case with Quartermaster, there is compelling evidence that those claims are likely false, the dealer needs to demand proof from the manufacturer that the claims are true. I would suggest a letter to Quartermaster that says, essentially - "Questions have been raised as to the country of manufacture for your products. We, and you, have a legal obligation to ensure the accuracy of these claims. Please provide us with evidence that your products are, in fact, Made in the USA." That should be an exceedingly easy request to satisfy. If they can't do it, the dealer should remove the country of origin representations for Quartermaster, for the protection of both the dealer and its customers (who ought to be confident that they can rely on the factual representations made by the dealer).
