Quartermasters new video

That's pretty damned funny. There's absolutely no reason to have that much security for a glorified machine shop. Nor could they possibly have the capital to have such a set up.

Let me tell a story (and maybe brag a bit). My dad works for Rayotek in San Diego. I was there last month, and he showed me, my brother, and our mom the shop. Rayotek does optics of all sorts.

Here's what they do: (you can mute it if the music annoys you, nobody says anything)

If you don't want to watch the video, I'll hit the highlights for you. A lot of optics stuff, plus windows for the Orion spacecraft that's sending people to Mars, a bubble windows for a deep-sea submersible, and a sensor window that's on the B-2 Spirit stealth bomber.

*(bragging part bellow)

If you pause right at the beginning, you can see that there's no fence. Security cameras, of course, but that's common sense. When we got there we signed in and got a "Visitor" sticker badge to wear. The security beyond that point? A sign that said "No photography beyond this point". That's it. There were no security cameras inside, even for the own company's use.

They've got a waterjet cutter, a laser etcher, CNC mills, regular end mills and lathes and other tooling machines. Massive grinding machines for making big-ass mirrors for telescopes. Smaller ones too (some are my dad's). And that crazy 5-axis 4x3x1.5 meter machine. Millions of dollars in equipment. Plus all the materials, works in progress, etc.

My point is that if Rayotek has all that equipment and they do what they're doing, why would Jared West need all the security he claims they have to make some knives? It's all puffery. A bunch of marketing bullshit to people who are dumb enough to buy in to it. A medical-grade clean room does not make a better knife. Nor does biometric scanners (a $150 cellphone has a biometric scanner), thermal sensing cameras, and all the other blah blah blah. I'm surprised he didn't brag about his turboencablulator.

I'm surprised-not-surprised that Jared West made that video. It appears shortly after people on the largest knife forum on the internet are questioning where this knives are made. And after several knife dealers removed or questioned his claim of USA made on their websites. Some of which who have stopped carrying his knives altogether. "Unrehearsed"? Why even say this? It's very obviously not unrehearsed. People can see that it's not unrehearsed whether he said it or not. So don't say it. Make your video, your obviously transparent attempt to claim that you're not a lying sack of shit, but don't do yourself one worse by taking it one further by lying about the video trying to claim that you're not lying.

*bragging part

My dad's working on those windows for the Orion spacecraft. He's also involved with the submersible. The video doesn't mention that James Cameron wants to use it to film at the bottom of the Marianis Trench for the "Avatar" sequels". That thingy on the B-2 Sprirt stealth bomber? He did that.

That passage about their facility sounds like it was written by a 13 year old. "I've got the best of everything in my shop! It's in a secret location, guarded by the secret service cuz the president liked my knives so much!"

lol, win.

I found a great pair of fishing boots for high rivers, I can use them to wade through the high tide of their manure ! And as far as this : (The 6-acre complex is under 24 hour surveillance using recently de-classified thermal imaging sensors. The 8,500 square foot facility is home to multiple design studios, think-tanks & a 3,000 sq ft shop floor. However, a medical-grade clean room and a 3 story-high knife museum with a biometric-scanner that allows/denies access are likely to be considered the highlights of our facility.) Are you kidding me, youd think they have the spaceship from roswell in there. Declassified thermal imaging sensors; what are they guarding military top secret projects? Think tank haha to come up with more bull crap like this !Where is this museum? And this scanner to access or deny people from entering. I guess Sheldon cooper is in charge of their theoretical physics lab ; get the hell out of here I wish these clowns showed up at a knife show they wouldn't dare,id call them out so bad on this alone they would pack up and leave. this goes so beyond knifemaking its not even funny !: :barf::barf:

There isn't a knife maker or factory in the world that would need or has that kind of security. Think tank; ha ; I guess that's where they are, in there watching 70's tv sitcoms so they can name their knives after they arrive from China !

Do you really need a "think tank" to decide which knives to knock-off?

Very corny. Those guys seem very fake or forced. If I was stuck in a shop with that crew all day, I would lose my mind. And my pride. The camera was actually about to shoot around an operator and into the machine but then the frame stopped lol. All that is going on in their vid is a guy walking around a shop flicking a knife hahaha. I was actually really digging their designs, then I realized they were stolen Warren Thomas designs. Very shady buisness. Thank you for starting this thread and bringing this shady maker to my attention

512-239-9006 is the number bladehq has to get in touch with qtrmstr

I called and was given the address of the factory which is in fact a post office. I called the post office to confirm.

Now i get no response but ill occasionally send a text asking where the factory is for real. No response anymore though.... 😁

Maybe some others should try to call now that we have a working number?

So when did Jared go from "the guy wearing eyeliner" to "Walking Dead extra who hasn't showered for a week" look?:D

Not to mention their "ORB Bearing System" is the exact same white-caged double row system found on all high-end Chinese knives:

At least they're good bearings, but seriously, it makes you wonder...

OMG LMAO. Thermal imaging for security and biometrically controlled museum? What the F do they think they have in there? Certainly not American made knives. Haha

^How about the medical grade clean room? what are they doing brain surgery in there ? I want to see this "museum"; Give me a break ! And Sig put their name on one of these buffoons knives ? what an absolute joke !

They forgot to mention that their shop foreman is Jimmy Hoffa. And fat Elvis is the head of their "think tank."

the whole company setup and marketing, knife names, the whole deal is almost like a joke being played on knife buyers and the entire industry by a rich kid. its so over the top no one could believe this and take it seriously unless they are very naive or just a plain old sucker.

The sad thing is in a way they benefit from the negative attention. It gives a weird mystique for some like that of Chinese premium brands that steal designs. They'll always have a small cult following. Better just ignore them. Maybe PM those that need an education on them.

Amazing, that somebody took the time to cram so many lies into one block of text.

The text conjurs images of a scuzzy looking skinny jeans wearing hipster with a manbun bent over his 'puter inventing 'boutique' fairy tales.

If that West persona strived for a scuzzy disgusting tweaker look, he succeeded.

As others have said in the several Quartermaster threads, why dont they just come clean (no pun intended) and say it like it is instead of lying. They obviously have somebody buying their knives. Somebody buying a Q knife would most likely still buy their knives.

touch of modern have these on sale it says 100% made in the usa
please contact them to tell them otherwise.
i cannot link to the site as they are not a vendor.

I think they are 100 years too late, if they were around in the 1800's they would be selling snake oils and phony cures off the back of a wagon for sure...
