Queen Cutlery quality

So why not wait until you have sorted this issue with Queen rather than going viral with their name? If they were so accommodating - cant you at least let them try to sort it before going public?
How would you feel if you provided a service for someone and they werent happy - contacted you and before you could rectify the problem - they went viral?

I'm sorry I thought this was a place in which we could discuss matters such as this. I was simply trying to see if others have had the same issues, which it appears they have. I was looking at buying more and wanted to know. Sorry you feel that way. I don't think I am in the wrong and I clearly pointed out that they were excellent with customer service so far. I meant no harm.

I was wanting to pull the trigger on a baby sunfish and a rail splitter. Before spending another 200.00 on these knives I wanted some insight. I recently saw a couple threads about the quality of Case knives, many of which are a considerable amount less than Queen knives. I don't see the difference. Is it just because Queen is a smaller company that you feel this way? To me there is no difference. Customers will always express their satisfaction or dissatisfaction. I'm sure my little thread won't damage the sales of Queen knives. Matter of fact, like my forum friends have pointed out these knives are older and I have been told to check out the 2015 products. So really I will probably purchase more Queen knives.

I was looking at buying one of the new queen scouts. Is the quality really off on them? I would have thought they would be alright, if they were built this year.

There were some complaints on how the blades fit into the well, and also about the thinness of the tools. I haven't had one to inspect in person. Some people liked them, some didn't. Aside from this model I've only heard praise for 2015 Queens. I don't know if the quality is really off or if the people buying them were just expecting something different. I just know that it's the only model that has received mixed reviews out of the knives that Queen has released this year.

Here's the thread where I was reading complaints. You can judge for yourself.

I know what you are saying and I get where you are coming from, I think just the timing - with already asking them to look into it, I re-read my post and it seems sort of attacking, I was just trying to point out - that in any situation if the company is looking into it- then thats alll you can ask for - and from what I hear Queen are pretty good at following up queries - so I hope they restore your faith in them.
I have quite a few Queen knives- and Wow they are great knives!

People enjoy beating on Queen; funny they don't seem to bash their contract knives even half as much.

I have five. They all were bought sight unseen. They are all good value for their money. Siince the knives are made by hand, none is perfect but neither are the humans that make them.

Although I have 5 Queens, I have yet to find one of those "perfect" GEC knives that was sweet enough design to take home, but I have seen lots of queens recently at gun shows, and some are calling to me :). Particularly a sweet checkered pearl Doctor's knife I saw last week for about a C-note. Maybe next time...

I've not found a perfect knife yet, but I do own some that don't have the flaws that bug me. They tend to be GECs, but not all of them. One is Queen made, so they can pull it off in my mind.

I have 3 "queen" knives, two of which are a Queen and an S&M #69 Barlow. Both have minor issues, but I feel were well worth the cost. No real complaints. The #99 Scout, on the other hand, is more than a disappointment. I feel I got ripped off. I should have returned it, but it may just become the Edsel of knives. :D

I have two Queen knives in Curly Zebra. I bought a Copperhead which was terrible in every way. I sent it back, the replacement was better but the blade was still not straight and there were still gaps, at least the bolsters were flush and non scratched and the backspring flush this time. I bought a small lockback. Same problems as the new Copperhead. Both have been sent for regrinding, not just resharpening. I have my eye on a S&M File and Wire (the pattern is perfect for my needs) but have to admit to being rather nervous. I don't live in the States and shipping, including return shipping should there be a problem, is far from cheap as I've already found to my cost. At the price I might not expect GEC quality but they should at least be as good as a cheap Case. The two I have are not close.

I hear you, bud. Thanks for clearing the air. I didn't mean to get snappy but I was really not trying to bash Queen in any way. I was wanting to pull the trigger on two knives I saw for sale and wanted advice. I didn't mean to come off as a jerk. I apologize if I did.

Not that it matters, one of the knives I was wanting to get was the Scout. Looks like that won't be happening! I think we should all have a place to come filled with our peers to help us with quality reports and such. Thanks, guys!

Some of my best-made and most revered knives are made by Queen. However, quality is variable it's undeniable and year of manufacture or name of owner does not seem to play a significant role. I rather suspect they suffer from worn outdated machinery hence the variable quality. I hope they can invest if this is the case as they are one of the great knife companies with a fine pattern book and authenticity.

That sounds like a strong possibility. Trust me, I want every Queen knife I see! I hope they turn it around. I just cannot take a risk of I'm not going to get a consistent, well made product. Nothing against the company personally. So torn right now!

When I order a Queen, I typically request the dealer to look for flaws and so far I've had nothing but good luck with Queens' - a railsplitter in buffalo horn, and a barlow in buffalo horn. In fact, I actually like their designs with buffalo horn cover.

I have two, the Mountain man lockback and Barlow slip-joint. The lockback has some blade play, I have been able to get most of the horizontal play away but nothing can be done about the lateral play. I know that traditional lockbacks can have some lock issues but still it irritates me. The slip joint has some small cracks in the scales around the pins but not enough to bother. Othervise the knife is fine.

I only have one Queen, the 2014 EDC forum knife, and while i like the knife, it is very flawed. I had to do a lot of "tuning" especially the edges, to even have a useful knife. Mind you, Im going to keep it as i like the design and blade steel, but i will not buy another Queen without handling it first. Same with Case.

The BladeForums 2014 Traditional Forum knife was made by GEC. Teardrop, single clip blade with Sambar Stag donated by John Loyd. A rousing success.

Maybe you are posting about some other forum's knife? If so I'd be interested in seeing some pics and specs. No links to the other forum, please.

I have a pint gunstock. I was wondering if it is normal for the clip blade to have a half stop and not the spey? Hmmmmmm

You talking about the EDCForum knife? Yeah that went rather badly.
