Queen Cutlery

Queen/ S&M has always made some interesting knives to me. I would say in the time I did focus on accumulating their knives, maybe 10-15 variations of their offerings have passed through my hands with more of a focus on Schatt and Morgan knives. However this is more limited to their modern stuff. They do offer some patterns that other companies did not. Unfortunately, these were not in the best fit/finish and ive had to modify them myself. I still keep one Schatt & Morgan and it is the Big Jack in stag. I hope whoever bought the rights and equipment can restore them to some former glory; as those laurels they've rested on in their bygone years certainly have faded and fallen apart.

You want to know when Queen "produced the very best products." When looking at individual knives in hand, I think they did that throughout their history. They made fancy knives, working mans knives and other companies knives for years. For example, fit and finish on the aluminum handled Big Chief might not have been perfect over the years, but it had a strong backspring, hard stainless thin blade and a corrosion resistant handle.

Don't forget about the Case Classics produced mostly by Queen during the 90s.
They made, I believe three sizes of whittlers like the pearl handled Winchester posted above in various handle materials.
I have a couple of those put away that I purchased from Jim Parker at the big show he used to put on twice a year in Pidgeon Forge.
Very nice fit and finish. Wish that I'd bought a few more.

That's an old picture, I've added a few Barlows since then, as well as a few others. If anyone is interested, they are in numerical order by pattern number starting in the bottom left corner. I stll can't make any sense out of how the patern numbers fall.
Oh, yeah! Let's put some salt on those cuts, any lemon juice handy? In all seriousness, wonderful collection you have. Thank you for sharing the pictures.

Will this work for lemon juice?

Updated picture. Has anyone ever made sense of the pattern numbers?

Why is there a #24 Trapper in the middle of the Barlows?
That's not lemon juice, that's a hard kick to the groin with steel toe army boots! Numbers 6 and 7 top row left corner are something to behold. Absolutely goegeous array! I've been looking for the mountain man folders lately.

#3 and #3L ASCB Mountain Man, favorites of mine. The locker has a bit of blade wobble that can't be taken out without disassembling and thinning down the lockbar and backspacer or maybe adding spacers between the blade and scales. It seems to be a common issue with them, something to keep in mind if you're looking for one. The slipjoint version doesn't have that problem.

Edit to add: here's an old pic of the #3 with a Case Chestnut bone CV Backpocket.

Thank you for that, I will keep it in mind if/when I find one.

Thanks to all who have posted here. You’ve made me feel very welcome.
Meako, that’s a very generous offer, much appreciated.
I have been scouting around on that big auction site and have picked up a couple of things. Didn’t make my wife real happy, so I had to let a couple of them become Christmas gifts. Still looking for the amber stockman though. Will see if I can post some pictures. Thanks all,
Rob

The three knives on the right are recent auction site snags. Front, small stockman, winterbottom bone.
Middle, Queensteel #3 - what I might call a”stockman light”
Back, large Queensteel stockman, black scales.
On the left are knives I’ve had for years.
Front is a single spring pen which was my daily carry for about 25 years. Second is a double spring that was to be its replacement, but is too “fat.”
Back is a Case 6318 SS stockman that’s in the running for daily carry.

I ordered both stag trappers as well. Who’s making these?

So Queen is back to being made in the USA I wonder who is making them, probably Bear & Son.

I picked up the two new stag trappers so we will see the quality.
I've been looking for info on this. Do you have a source I can read? Very interested if it's true.
