WTB: Antique micarta scales for OG FK
You and me both brother!
Me too![]()
Daverous
I didn't want to clog up the ANAQ any more for today, so here are some links to that past with some historical contexts. Some of these were apparently moved around behind the scenes after they were scored by the individuals who are showing as winners back when (almost 3 years to the very same time of the month!)

A bit of behind the scenes trivia to the curious,
I was on much the same quest as you a couple of years ago to acquire a complete AECM set of scales for every model in my collection. My pursuit reached a roadblock at the rare original FK set. I ended up trading a Shiv straight across with the most esteemed member on the forum to make it happen.
A while later when I realized that I am more of a user than a collector, I gifted my AECM FK set to a dear forum brother who is more of a collector than I. Sometimes I miss them, but I am happy nonetheless with using my unburied micarta & TeroTuf scaled CPK's. Sometimes I miss them, but I am happy nonetheless with using my unbuffed micarta & TeroTuf scaled CPK's while knowing the AECM set is in a good home where they will be appreciated.
Here are some old photos of the AECM FK set I had.

I must really become a dear friend of yours PhilYou are not too far up the road, so maybe we will break some bread at some future point

Phil, I couldn't quite remember who that aecm Field Knife went to, lol, but by the looks of the top image, it was apparently you? I also seemed to recall that you got a shiv?
Yeah thought of that after I posted. Could probably get another chopper set and maybe a DEF set that way, but the HDFK will be more of a challenge. Regardless, went a bit too crazy this year, so once my Behemother arrives I need to cool it for a while.
So got 2 sets of AECM coming for my other chopper and the DEF...now just need to get a set for the HDFK

Is it just me or is that first shiv up top extra chubby?
Apologies for being the purveyor of less positive news but the AECM scales for the HDFK are going to be harder to find because during their preorders (IIRC there were 2) the AECM scales were not as available as they are these days. I asked Nathan this Q yesterday and he explained that it took him a while to figure out the best way to salvage the most usable AECM outta the mass of it which he had purchased from the yacht/shipyard place, as it didn't come in form of sheets of the stuff.
Don't give up yet but to find spare AECM for the LC and the HDFK is much harder than the other CPK-Choppers and the UF/DEF but not as hard as the FK1 / original EDC with the thicker scale slabs.
That Hdfk is a tricky one! At least it was for me. Good luck sir.

had this one come in recently. As a general rule we don't do pimping or spa services but this one was a little beat up and needed some love. And it was such a fine example of the pattern I wanted to spiff it back up.
