Well, you did say "all respond" but I'll second some of the ideas that if you are going to try this, then we ought to narrow the categories and do slightly different variations each month.
For example, if we do, e.g., both folders and fixed blades each month, then one month, we could have "folders under $100" and "fixed blade hunters" and then the next month, we might have "defensive folders" and "kitchen/cooking knives" and the month after that have "gentlemen's folders" and "camp knives".
Obviously, these are only a few suggestions, but I think this will need a little more focus than just "folders," "fixed" and "multi-tools." I also think it would be good (in fact necessary
), for our budgets at least, to try to appeal to somewhat different audiences rather than to the same targeted audience, e.g., martial artists, in a single month with "fighting folders" and "bowies" for example.
It sounds like you have run the idea past the dealers and they don't think this would present a problematical competition, so I don't see any reason to object. My main concern is simply with the practical management of the project. One problem is the likelihood of repetition (people's preferences are likely to remain similar from month to month) and I would suggest narrower and varied categories as a reasonable way to generate variety.
