I'm interested in what brought you to Beckerland... Were you given one as a gift and fell in love? Research? Was it from lurking the board and seeing how owning a Becker not only makes you handsome but ladies will throw themselves at you?

My first Becker was a Cam BK9 that I was gifted many years ago...it went on a trip and never made it back...years later I picked up the bk2 and fell in love..it's been a cruel mistress ever since...

Tell us your stories...

My first is the BK-3. It was a gift from my stepdad. He asked what I wanted and I said I want a big thick blade I can chop and pry with.

I was looking for a new camping knife, was at my local hunting/fishing/outdoors store and they had a BK7 and a BK9, I went home and did some research on them, watched some videos on youtube and was quite impressed. Went back and bought the bk7, a week later I went to another knife store and picked up my 14 for an EDC, now i'm just trying to pace myself from buying them all.

I guess I will start. I bought ESEE products for my "good" knives. And they are a fine product..No regrets. But, I kept hearing about Beckers on the ESEE forums and I did frequent this forum, mostly because this forum is pretty entertaining. Bought a BK2 for my first one. I wanted to compare it to my ESEE 5. Loved it! And that started a series of more purchases. More knives than I need. But, I also have more guns than I need too. Drives my wife crazy!!!!! But then again, I now have Beckers "in house" that I can use for sheath making. Saves the customer from having to send me their knife.
And I have noticed that beautiful women just come up to me and want to hit the woods with me.
All the best
Balding

Always a fan of K-Bar since I've been a wee cubsfan. Beckers of course fit right in, but I will admit that it took me a long time to find Beckers. No clue they existed until at the most 5 years ago? Took me a bit to purchase that first 11 after my discovery, only thing I can think of is that my lust for folders hit high gear and for a while I neglected fixed. That first 11 ended up being gifted. Ive actually gifted a few 11's- birthdays, xmas, etc. Then for a while I got into some SS fixed blades from Spyderco, they are nice but for whatever reason SS doesn't do it for me in FB like 1095 does. When I returned to the carbon steels I found the Becker forum right about the time the LE4 came out so I jumped on that. Of course this forum only fuels the fire for more steel, so a 2 followed, then a 9, 17, and 14. And for that I thank you all! :)

Was looking for a solid bushcraft knife. Stumbled across the bk16 on another forum. Found bladeforums and the beckerheads.

I'd been looking around online for a few months, trying to find an outdoor knife that would be tough enough to baton through smaller branches, etc., and after hundreds of grueling hours of wondering if an Ontario would be okay after I got rid of the sheath, or if I should try getting a Condor, etc., I started looking around on several forums at Beckers. Once I saw that the Tweeners were coming, I was 110% interested, then once I realized they were finally released I bought a BK16. I'm ordering a BK14 today, and I'm trying to decide if I really want a BK2, or if I want to just get a BK9 or BK4.

It's very exciting, and as soon as I felt the craftsmanship and quality of my 16, I think I contracted the fever.

coworker brought in his 14 to show me. A few months later, I ordered myself an 11. After that, I picked up a 14, 17 and a 7. I still have more planned but I've been too busy using the 7 to order any more.

I started out DuraCoating guns and a few big Ontario knives that I'd use for search and rescue. A friend -- a professional tactical instructor -- asked me to coat his Cam BK9 that he'd keep strapped to the roll cage of his UTV. He said he'd used it over the years to do everything from shoveling dirt to cutting climbing rope. After hefting that 1/4"-thick wonder I had to have one of my own and was disappointed in how "thin" the "new" KaBar version was. To compensate I made up some scale spacers from the Kydex scraps I had laying around from making Ontario sheaths and the rest is history. That -9 is now in the hands of CubsFan1969.
In 1969 there were no commercial "tactical" knives as such, so when I got orders for Viet Nam I bought a shiny USMC KaBar (even though I was Army), scuffed up the blade and blued it, made a leather sheath, and carried it during my deployment. Within a week before coming home I broke it and threw it away, not knowing that they were warranted!
So if you stretch the point I guess you can say I've been modifying KaBars for 43 years!!!

The outdoors was a huge part of my growing up and my dad did his best to pass on all of his outdoor skill and knowledge to his children. He always preferred an axe/large folder combo outdoors, and he was perplexed by my gravitation towards the larger fixed blades such as Ka-Bar fighters, and larger Buck hunters. I carried these for years but I was always nervous using them for chopping or batoning tasks. A few years ago I began looking for a knife with which I could do anything and not have to cringe. I think I first saw the BK-2 on an Equip2Endure review, and after I saw how it could chop and baton, and still maintain a keen edge for smaller tasks I was sold. I did a little more research and the only complaints I ever found were that is was too heavy, or that it looked like a sharpened pry bar. I bought the BK-2 and have been 100% satisfied. I think that in the future it will be hard to convince me to buy a fixed blade that is NOT a Becker.

My first becker was only a few weeks ago. I got a 14, I saw how it was a popular knife to customize, and I wanted to do it myself. It's still a work in progress.

I was doing some research on a good camping/outdoors knife and heard of this phenomenon called the BK2. There was a claim that it was the best bang for you buck so I did some research and checked amazon and it had great reviews. I asked for it for Christmas and my in-laws got it for me this past holiday. Have wanted more Beckers ever since! Got a BK10 when they were still on LE run and had to sell that. Then got a BK4 with the LE run and kept and mod'ed it. Recently got the BK14 and 17 for my bday and love 'em both!

I lusted after a BK2 for a long time, but I've always been slow to pull the trigger on buying knifes. I bought a BK14 as a "foot in the door/test the waters" knife a few months ago and I have been kicking myself for waiting so long on buying any of them! The 14 is an easy choice for EDC, and I find myself carrying it everywhere: woods, work, etc. The problem is I now have a more difficult time justifying the -2, but I think I'll be able to get around that soon enough.

I've been lurking here for awhile. I've owned a lot of nice stainless steel folders that I used for cutting duty, but nothing that I can chop with or really beat on. Beckers have opened my eyes to what a heavy duty knife can do, and the advantages of carbon steel for hard use.

Always been kind of a gear head, packs, knives etc. Was generally a Buck fan (still am). My Grandfather had a Ka-bar that I thought looked pretty bad a++, so I started researching Ka Bar and was introduced to their line of products. I actually found info about the BK2 specifically on the E2E website and Adam raved about it. I bought that BK2, took it to the woods and realized what a tank it was. Havent looked back since, I now have a 9, 7, 2 and 14, and will be doing some tweeners in the very near future. Love Beckers and really like this forum, great bunch of folks and a whole lotta knowledge.

I started getting into knives a long time ago but got away from it in my early 20's. About 4 years ago one of my brothers started making knives in a homemade forge and then started buying and selling khukris. So I got into that but found them to be too heavy and too big to be practical.
That's when I started researching and found this forum. But still it took me a while ( over a year ) to buy my first Becker - a BK-10 clone made from a BK-7 thank T.A.Gannon. That led to a real 10, then a 14, a 2, another 14, & a 5. All have been acquired in the last 5 or 6 months.
I have purchased other brands along the way but none have impressed me as much as Becker Knife &Tool.
I gotta say that I think this forum and the camaraderie I've found here are probably equally responsible for my attraction and loyalty to the brand though. So thank you Moose, Guyon, Bladite and of course Ethan as well as every Beckerhead and wanna be for making this place what it is.

For whatever reason the BK2 just looked amazingly sexy to me with the way one guy posted pictures of it.

It was quite literally only a single post on this site that sold the BK2 to me, and now I want more.

I guess it goes back to hunting and fishing with my dad. Back then I didn't realize that dressing deer and cleaning fish wasn't the fun part. My dad was career military and had an old marine Ka-bar that I couldn't keep my hands off of.

I went through the cub scouts and boy scouts always having a knife with me. For years it was a boy scout stamped buck folder. I loved that knife. As I got older I went through several phases with various brands and types of knives. Over the past 20 years or so, I've used mainly buck and ka-bar with a spattering of kershaw and spyderco.

My dad still buys me a knife for both my birthday and Christmas every year. Last year, knowing that I owned and used Ka-bar knives, he gave me my BK11. I had of course heard of Ethan Becker but this was my first of his designs. Since then I've gotten a BK2 and a couple bk14's. There my main users now (other than the phat bob when I carry a folder. When's a Becker folder coming???).

I do have need for a bigger blade. It'll probably be the 4 or 9. Leaning towards the BK9. I'm loving the Becker line up and will be hinting pretty hard for one of the tweenters this Christmas.

My first (and so-far, only) Becker is a BK-2. It was given to me as a gift when I brought up my need for a new camp knife. My old USAF Bolt Knife just wasn't cuttin' the mustard anymore.

After having it for a few months, I decided I wanted a nice leather sheath. I found Skystorm on fleabay and ordered a sheath from him. At that point I was officially seduced by my BK-2 and found my way here.

Spend WAY too much time on these forums.
