Question for the new guys....

The BK16 and the camaraderie brought me to Beckerland.

That and the fact I needed a new knife to fight off the ladies that were already throwing themselves at me!:p

I've had the pleasure of working on several Beckers in the last couple years, mostly just making custom handles for them. Plus, I've become familiar (some might even say, friendly) with some of the miscreants who frequent these parts, through other subforums.

Before that, I had known the Camillus and Ka-Bar names since I was a pup, and about the time I really started getting back into knives I snagged a real, original Camillus Becker Necker with a thing on the end that opens all sorts of bottles... about 60 days before Camillus went belly-up :(. I'm sincerely glad that Ka-Bar has picked up where they left off.

I still have that Necker, BTW... or rather, my wife does. She has "stolen" it and keeps it in her purse for lunchtime duties and other day-to-day tasks.

watching vids and reading here led me too the forom i dont have a becker yet but put in a order too mrs santa for a bk2 for xmas should co great with my new kabar mk1!!! i cant wait!!

less than 2 months ago I had never heard of becker knives. i heard of ka-bar but never owned one. well i was tired of knives i got from local shops. i broke a couple knives in the woods, then figured i should get some better blades. started looking online at amazon, didnt go by price or looks at first just looked for the knives that had the most ratings, and the highest overall score. canceled out the cheapo blades that people buy just cus there cheap. canceled out the ones over 150, then i went in and read only the negative reviews. canceled out reviews posted by morons. then i got down to ontario and Beckers. having heard of ontario but not becker. i started looking into this new to me name. came across you-tube interviews of ethan becker. watched them all. Looked into youtube reviews on the bk2. i was sold. started seeing bladeforums name come up everytime i googled anything about beckers. came inside. noticed it was a cool group that got along great. joined the boards. now im waiting on my 4th becker knife to be delivered.

I've had the addiction myself for about two months now. What turned me onto the Becker knives, particularly the BK2 were the youtube videos and how guys were beating the hell out of them and the knife would ask for more.... Just a beast of a knife at a Fantastic price with a warranty that is #1. Then I started noticing the Esee reviews and their knives. Pretty much the same steel, same tempering, and similar looks, but at almost twice the price. I admit I like the Esee knives but for the value the Beckers offer, there is no need to add one to my new addiction and besides I am a "Fanboy" and brand loyal kinda guy till I have a reason not to be. I currently have a BK2, Bk-11, 2 BK-14s all with Micarta scales, and because of you guys here on the forum and your great photos, just ordered earlier tonight or should I say last night ( it is 4:37am as I type this from my in-laws because we are "Sandy" refugees till we get our power back on ) a BK5 with Micarta scales and custom kydex sheath with a Tek Lok from 710 Custom Sheaths. Funny thing is my wife will ask "is that a new knife again" and I will respond " no Babe, I just stripped it again"...

Also as a side note too, not only have you guys taught me about great knives here, but also how to sharpen them. I actually enjoy the sharpening of my knives and am currently missing this at the moment, but I don't think my current host would appreciate or understand me laying out a leather strop loaded with this "Green crayon" stuff as my daughter refers to it on his table.

I have known about Becker knives for a few years but had never bought one. That changed when got a bk 11 as a gift and Then saw the bk 16 and had to save for one of them. Now both of them are away getting work done on them (acid etch for the 16 and kydex sheath for 11). Almost everyone I know thinks that I am insane because I dream of Becker knives....seriously. I now cant wait until I can afford a bk 9.

I was a member of BF years ago and life happened and I stopped buying new knives for a long time. I decided to get rid of some of my old blades and came back to BF to check on prices and get info.. I ran across the BK-2 thread where the person was cutting up lawn mowers and refrigerators and such and I started looking at the Becker line. I recognized Ethan Becker's name but had never seen any of the knives. Shortly after, I found a great deal on a 9. After some initial problems with the blade and the utterly amazing response from Mr. Tooj and the mods and members of the Becker forum I am sold on the Becker line.
I don't own any other product that has an avenue to communicate with the designer, senior engineer, or has an easy to access library of information like the Becker Forums.

I was perfectly happy with my hunting knives, and pocket knives until I started watching survivor man, man vs wild, dual survivor ect.. Next I started looking up information on the net and found the ESEE site. Then I found the Bushcraft USA site. It was pretty much all over after that. I started making fires rub'n sticks together, split'n wood with knives and all types of things i never considered doing before. I learned all you really need in life is a great knife and everything else falls in place. I thought about buying an ESEE or two, but they just don't quite mesh with my style. Then people started showing off their naked and modified Beckers...Purty things they are.

As noted above you do have to hide them while out in the woods to keep the women from bugging you. :)

I've only been hanging around here for a couple of weeks. Previously, I tended to look on folders as a more convenient EDC, esp. in an office environment. So for many years, I've been rotating my Delica II (engraved gift for my groomsmen), an early-model Spyderco Native, or a Benchmade/Mel Pardue (nice and thin). Started camping more in recent years as kids came of age, and thought it would be time nice to find a fixed blade for camp work. Can't remember what I ran across that pointed me toward the Swampworks knives, but then saw some comparisons with ESEE and Becker. (The Ratmandu is really nice, but for the price I can get two Beckers!)

Now I've been lurking in this forum for a few weeks, thoroughly impressed with the activity, enthusiasm of various modders, and direct involvement of Ethan and his team. Don't have my first Becker yet, but will probably be placing an order this week for either a BK2 or BK16. Still trying to decide which to start with. I see an Eskabar on the Christmas wish list, and probably plans for a BK10 if it gets re-released next year.

(Would probably grab a BK7, if it weren't for the 5.5" limit in Texas. Sure, I could keep it at home, but where's the fun in that?)
