Question for the new guys....

I don't own a Becker yet. I heard about them on the many many many BK-2 vs RC-3 threads over in Rat land a while back. I ended up going with the RC-3 as I really wanted to try smaller, thinner knives. Since then I've looked at Beckers on and off, got an Izula instead of a Necker, mostly because the store I was ordering from had none at that moment. I've decided that as much as I want bigger knives, I don't really use them, so most of the Becker line was in the "nice, but not right now" category. Then the tweeners dropped, and I've been really eyeing the 15. The BK5 interested me most way back, but it was just way more steel than I wanted to carry (I purposely got rid of my larger knives) and the 15 is right at the top of the bracket for me, but damn is it not tempting! We'll see how I feel when I actually have a job and income....
if I had the cash I'd also be looking at a machax just for kicks and giggles, so maybe I'll get one of them as well some day.
 
I was brought to Beckerland just recently. I was looking for a good, sturdy, basic looking bowie knife and the BK9 was recommended as a modern approach to the subject. I had originally planned on some heavy modification if I ever got one but eventually gave up on that and decided to experience it as it was. The basic BK9 is a lot greater than initial impressions would've suggested.

Now I'm looking to expand the collection.
 
I came over to Beckerdom by way of a somewhat circuitous route: I was interested in making an altoids tin PSK and was googling around for ideas on what to put in it, I came across Doug Ritter's site and his excellent PSK guide, and while there looking through his page found his description of his Ritter-grip folder which interested me greatly as it looked like a good knife to replace the cheap Gerber folder I'd been carrying. From there I found the RSK/MK2 (aka BK12) on his page and it was love at first sight! I placed the order that night online and as soon as it arrived I was hooked. I've still only just begun, but I now have a BK12 and two BK14s with plans for a BK9, BK4, BK13, and a BK24 when it comes out.
 
My 11 was my indoctrination into the Becker world and I've become assimilated. My next Becker will arrive tomorrow (A BK-2) and I can't wait to drool over it's robust studiness. On deck I have a BK-5 and a BK-9 that will be ordered within the next couple of weeks and after that, maybe a 7 and some tweeners. I like the thick broad blades and the ability to take whatever gets shelled its way. Very dependable knives from what I've read here and from the looks of my Necker, if it's any indication, I'm going to love these knives.
 
I was looking to get into camping again, and was tired of using cheap China Mart machetes and hatchets. I did A LOT of research and drew a conclusion that I needed to try out this majestic monster called the BK2. I found mine for about $47 shipped, and was ecstatic. Once it arrived I did a few chopping tests and was instantly thrown into the world of Beckerhead-dom (I need to get my number, but I just like reading), and general knife collecting. I now have a 14, 16, 2, two 9s...to be continued.
 
Hmm... Can't say I own a Becker knife at this time. What brings me to ya guys is curiosity. I rarely occasion the outdoors but when I do I find myself wanting a heavy duty knife. Folders don't always cut it and I always forget to snag my Benchmade Nim Cub II which is my only fixed blade XD. So just reading up some and thinking of starting out on the BK2. Anyone know where I can buy with confidence instead of fleabay? Would like to know I'm buying the real thing ya know? Lol cause I sure as hell couldn't tell a fake from a real knife if I've never owned that particular knife before.
 
I never heard of Becker's until I decided last fall that I needed a big knife. At that time, I went with the Kabar black kukri but as we all know, once you start looking and hanging around this site, its hard to stop. I was mostly into folders.and I liked Buck knives quite a bit so I was hanging around that forum so it was just a matter of time before I wandered into this forum since they sit right next to each other on that forum list page.

It started with the 9 and 14 around the beginning of the year and the 12 wasn't far behind. From there, I added a 16, 4, 7, 17, 15, and have a 2 and a 5 on the way! I didn't set out to get all of them but ended up with most of them anyway because the value and usefulness of these knives just makes a lot of sense to me.
 
I had always had folders, always liked multitools and gadgets, and was interested in a good fixed blade but had no idea where to start. Last year I ran across an ad in one of my outdoor magazines for an ESEE that had a bottle opener built into the blade; thought that was sort of nifty, and in researching it found BF. The BF reviews led me to buy the BK-11 instead of the ESEE, and I've been hooked on BF ever since. Honestly, I loved the design of the 11, but was not that impressed with the blade sharpness from the factory. I'm no expert sharpener, I just use a Lansky to put my own edge on it, but I've been happy with it ever since, and I LOVE my 10! I'm working on modding my 15, it is going to be the guineapig for all the cool ideas I find here and decide to try. I'll post pics if I ever finish one of the mods.

The people on this site are the BEST also. Very tolerant and patient, and for that, I THANK YOU! :thumbup:

I have joined other sites to dicsuss trucks, etc that I promptly un-joined because the folks there were jerks. You guys and gals are the classiest, funniest, most down-to-earth, wisest folks I have met, and have restored my faith in finding normal neighbors! :)
 
I have loved knives, swords etc for as long as I can remember and used to collect bayonets for a few years until the local market all but dried up. I stopped collecting but kept on loving. over the years I started spending more time outdoors and developed a bit of a minimalist approach. It all started with ditching the axe in favor of my Timberline Zambezi. The blade worked well for batoning firewood, but was a bit too short for some larger diameter logs. A lot of research brought me to the BK9 and when I received it in the mail I found it was completely sterile, see that thread here. While trying to figure out if it was a legit Becker/KaBar, I stumbled on Bladeforums and the Becker sub-forum. My experience with Beckers is limited but they remind me a bit of my grandfather: all business with a tempered, slightly refined elegance. Tough as nails, commands respect. I do miss him.

USA Made Blade is where I ordered my BK9. Scott is the fellow I dealt with, it was a great experience for me.

I go camping by myself a lot. I wanted a knife that would not Fail. Read good reviews about the Bk2. Then came the bk11, then 7, then 5, then the new 2, then 9, then an 11 just to mod. Next month will be the 4.

My first Becker was a Cam BK9 that I was gifted many years ago...it went on a trip and never made it back...years later I picked up the bk2 and fell in love..it's been a cruel mistress ever since...

First time I ever saw and heard of Becker was the BK-9HH in a catalog (BrigadeQuartermaster or USCav magazine?) long before the advent of the internet. This past June was when I bought the BK-9 which is my first Becker Knife. Since then, I've acquired the BK-5, BK-101, BK-11CSM, BK-17, BK-14 Eskabar. More to come!

Pretty much.

I found BF via comments on AR15.com, and wandered over. I lurked for a few days, and finally joined. In that short time frame, I saw countless posts about these "Beckers" and "Beckerheads," and got curious. One thing led to another, and now I have a 14 (for the above purposes), and a BK7 on the way. More will be added down the road, I'm sure. :)
 
My first knife is a becker BK-2,

I was watching some videos about survival knifes and full tangs knifes and such stuff when it come to my mind, whats the best knife i can get here in Brazil easyly. Well after some research i found the blade foruns at the same time i ordered both a cold steel kukri machete to do some comparison with our local Tramontina machetes. And a BK-2 to compare with some zakharov model we have here. Well on the machete side i would call a win from tranmontina it seenmend to had better steel better finishthe only advantage of cold steel was the shape of the blade.

Then on knifes, damm the BK-2 is a monster the best knife ive got in my hands so far. And ive got my hands on some 300+ dollars custom made knifes.

The things i've felt lacking was really easy to change. The coating ive removed and aplied some apple vinegar in it. The sheath well i ordered some hedgehog leatherworks sheath waiting for it to come. And the handles, well when i get in the us i will see if micartas and fell a lot better.
 
Many thanks friend. Especially that that site exclusively sells Made in USA knives, I'm a big supporter of American craftsman. Though I'm not biased as I own Japanese folders from Spyderco and just bout 2 SanRenMu folders :P Give them a try since Kershaw made me a fan of 8cr13mov steel XD. But American first! ^^
 
I am always looking for new knives to buy and try. I have loved knives since I was a little kid. One of my first words was sharp, I said "sharr" while pointing to a knife add while my Dad was holding me reading through Outdoor life. I have bought a lot of knives in my life and gone through different phases. My Dad runs a small "out of the house" firearms and gunsmithing operation. I usually buy my knives through his firearms wholesalers, but they have a limited selection. I noticed one of his wholesalers was carrying a new knife, a "Becker Campanion" and I liked the looks of it in the little black and white photo in the catalog. I googled it and found this forum. When i saw the awesome designs, obvious quality and durability and the infinite options for customization I had to have one. When my BK 2 arrived I was blown away, even all the photos I had seen here on BF hadn't prepared me for how serious this hunk of steel was going to be. A 14, 9 and 17 later and I am still hooked. These knives are awesome, I only wish I had found them sooner.

I was looking to buy a survival/prepper/camping knife. I wanted something that would work hard and take abuse and if the SHTF I wouldn't ahve to worry about being delicate with my knife. I had not owned any "real" knives so I jsut started reading around at what I thought I might want. I liked the looks of the Gerber LMF and I started researching it. Then I saw the ESEE 5. Looked good but a little more than I was able to afford at the time. I was watching videos of people abusing knives and there was a BK2. It was driven through everything in the world. Batoned through truck doors, lawnmower decks, cinder blocks. It was brutal to watch and still the knife never broke or bent. I knew that there was no way in hell that I would put it through that much in a real world situation. The price was good so I took the plunge after reading some reviews and lurking here.

That piece of steel was amazing when I got it in my hand. I had no idea it would awaken in me a desire to get into knives and seek out this forum as a place where I can gush over steel and learn a thing or 12 at the same time. That was earlier this year.
 
Well, I was shopping for some hard use knives and settled on an ESEE and kept reading more and more BK2 reviews.

Then I bought a BK2 also, because freaking EVERYONE seems to love it. Money well spent.
