Question for the new guys....

I have been a fan of Camillus knives for years. A number of years back while searching the Camillus web sight I came across the Becker Necker. I kept putting of purchasing one for one reason or another. Then Camillus went out of business. As soon as I learned Kabar was producing them, I bought one. Now it's one of my favorite knives.

So far my only Becker is a 14. But I'm really lusting after several other models. A 7 will probably be my next purchase.

I have small collection of folding knives and wanted to expand into fixed blade. Bucks, Handfuls of Kershaws and SOG, Harley Davidson collectables. I have some WWII fixed blades I inherited from my Dad and Uncles but determined I should not risk damaging those. I have a Buck 119 but wanted larger knives for woodcraft when camping. I watched many Nutnfancy Youtubes and decided I loved the look of Becker knives, and the BK7 and BK9 were highly recommended by Nutn. I recently purchased a BK2 and then BK14 and fell deeply in love... Next were to be the BK9 and BK7 but I saw Mr. Becker on a YouTube video where he described the BK16 and BK17. Next purchase will be BK16, but I can't decide whether to purchase the BK9 then BK7 (which originally got me interested) or get another BK2 and BK14 to modify or a BK17, or..... When looking for accessories and modifications I found this site. It's addictive.... I guess I may wind up collecting much more than I anticipated.......

It was all RRR's fault, he had a 5 and a 2.I was resistant at first but i finally broke down and got a 2 for myself. once i found out how much fun modding these babys was i was hooked.

Given the fact that the 12 is an exclusive you'll have a hard time finding one here mate... Its not illegal to import fixed blades as best that I know since I brought in a 7 and had no trouble. The 17 isnt to hard to come buy, runs around full US MSRP.

I was doing searches for "camping knives" and "outdoor knives" and ultimately came across Equip 2 Endure's field test of several different knives, the BK2 being one of them. I delved deeper into youtube-land and found reviews of other Becker knives. Sinking deeper into the depths of the internet, I found video interviews with Ethan, and he cracked me up. It was nice to be able to put a face to a product. I finally splurged and bought a BK4 as a camp knife. Now I'm ordering a BK11 as a companion, and those 2 should serve all of my camping/hiking needs for a knife.

Basically, I liked how robust his knives are. They look like they can take a beating (and CAN), but are also very reasonably priced.

I was looking for a smaller khukuri to take camping or strap to a pack when the idea of a bowie knife popped into my head. In searching for a tough, useable bowie for less then $100.00 the Bk9 seemed to be the best option made from high carbon steel (which is a requirement if in big knives I purchase). I had heard of the bk2 and seen some videos comparing it to esee so I watched every single video on the bk9 on youtube and lurked the forum tirelessly looking for negative reviews. I compared it to the cheaper ontario sp-10 and the more expensive esee junglas and decided the 9 just called to me. I love that it's big enough to baton good sized fire wood but light enough to chop up vegetables. This was about a month ago and within a week of getting my 9 I ordered a 14 because the 9 just seemed so lonely. I love the quality to price ratio and I can't wait to strip it down and make it my own. In the end I decided that It's worth it to pay about the same as the Junglas for upgrades and have a knife that really feels like mine.

Introduced to the Beckers on a scout camping trip this spring. Fell in love with the BK 5 but was looking for something not quite as "attention getting" (smaller) and was told Becker was coming out with the BK15. Also the people on this forum!! I have seen so many good ideas and skills from the people here and the "family" feeling is something that has really gotten my attention. Long ago and old Captain told me to surround myself around positive people and learn from them, well this seems to be one of those places - good positive people teaching good skills. Also seeing the mods and sheaths you guys are doing are UNREAL!! These knives are going from being a sharpened piece of steel ( no disrespected intended) to knives with names and personalities. Currently working on posts to one day be an official Beckerhead - thanks you guys! Still intened on having the BK5 one day.

I was deployed to Bosnia and Herzegovina in 1996. I had a USAF pilot's survival knife, Gerber Gator, and BM Mini AFCK. Not sure how I first saw the Campanion/BK-2, might've been in the AG Russell catalog I found by the pax terminal. I ordered one and didn't realize just what a beast it was. The Eagle sheath worked well on my pistol belt and it wasn't so long that it interfered with riding in a vehicle. Last year, I stripped off the original gray paint finish, applied gun blue, added the Kabar micarta scales, and a kydex sheath.

Like most, my camping interested started in Cubs and later in Scouts. As I grew up, I started to go on camping trips with friends, pushing my comfort zone all the way out to hiking in with coffee, water, food, sleeping bag and sleeping pad. I always had a pocket knife, but nothing over $15.
Over the last few years, having moved, got married and such, my equipment has not be used as much. I took inventory this summer and decided both my bugout pack and my general camping pack could use some severe upgrading. I started with the tools. I looked around and shopped around and watched alot of youtube videos. Every search I did, the Blade Forums would always show up. So I logged on and started looking. This was just a couple of days ago. Since then, I decided my first "real" knife would be a BK-2 so I bought one. Now I am looking for a smaller knife and this site has helped me narrow down my choices to either a BK11 or BK 24. From there I will be looking for a larger blade then my bk-2, somewhere in the size of a machete! Hard to buy stuff from the states because of the shipping. Like Micarta handles from Kabar, ya, they are $40 but then its $25 just to get it here. Too bad there wasn't a Canadian vendor section.
I really like this site and thanks for having me and can't wait to become a Beckerhead!

My decision to try a Becker instead of an Esee. Id used esee for years, and just wanted something differant. I took the plunge on a 2, and was amazed at its ability. Its now my all-time fave knife. My research here, trying to find an alternative, is what led me to this sub-forum. The people are what made me want a BH#.

I started with the Eskabar a little while after it was released. I was looking for a small fixed blade knife and just sort of happened upon it. At this time I was pretty green to the knife world (I knew the basics and some names of good manufacturers and designers) so when I saw Ka-Bar, Becker, Randall, and Esee on the same knife I figured there would be no way I would be disappointed. I was right, It was love at first sight, arguably the most useful knife I own. This led into the forums and later into my beloved BK-16.

I saw a BK2 in the '90s at a gun show in Dayton Ohio, hefted it in hand and immediately bought it along with the BK7 on the table. My purchase was based on the robust blade qualities, confidence in the Camillus name, the total win that is the patrol pack and figure 8, and...................... I already had the cookbook. Once I read the insert in the box that spelled out Ethans involvement, I was in purchase mode.
The involvement with KaBar reinforces my loyalty more, since I have owned a USMC Model KaBar since the early '80s and it has always given perfect service. Win Win all the way down the line.

Now, the collection includes-
2
7
9
11
14
15
16
Plan on geting a 5, and a 10

My favorite part of explaining the BK2 to people who ask about it, and they always do, is that the designer is also a chef, a gear designer, a hell of a personable fellow, and persistently keeps his product available despite adversity and set backs.

Ethan is a renaissance man, and is who people really want to be when they grow up.

I had been searching for an all around camping and hunting knife when I came across the BK2. after further research I knew that this is exactly what I wanted. I couldn't afford it even though it was very affordable. I ended up winning a Helle Dokka Folder in a contest by Equip2Endure. I asked Adam of E2E if he minded if I traded it to someone for a BK2 cuz I didn't have a good fixed blade. Being the generous guy he is, Adam sent me a brand new BK2 instead. And that is how it all started. Saving up for a 14 next, then a 9 but that's gonna take a while

I watched a review of the BK2 a bushcraft forum in my country and got interested in it...I bought one and was love at first sight....after turned obsession!!:). I've had several Esee knives and bought Eskabar...after BK11...I was buying until completing the entire collection..I love the BK knives!

I became really interested in bushcraft a few years back and was searching for that perfect knife. And for me, at the time, I found the becker BK2, 2nd gen. Wow. Modified the sheath with a teklok to scout style cary, stripped and patina'd the blade, filed a firesteel notch, and stippled the handle. Have obtained a few different knives since then...but I dont go anywhere without the becker.

My first was an Amazon impulse purchase--a 7 that felt so right that it was soon followed by an 11 and a 2, etc, etc.... There's nothing like opening that box and looking at those sublime lines for the first time and just knowing that the game has changed!
