Questions for you pros. Newbie searching for EDC, Specs listed

It is very easy to close one handed.

If you want to use the thumb hole to close it, it can get a little dangerous, but if you are smart and clear your fingers of the blade channel and close the knife on your leg the only risk would be... I don't know, somebody bumping into you when you are closing the knife?

Of all of the Delicas, Enduras, and other similarly designed knives I have never cut myself closing them. Actually, the only knife I have cut myself on when I wasn't mindlessly flipping it was my BM 53, which caught my palm flipping open one time. If you aren't dumb you are very unlikely to injure yourself with a knife (it can still happen, though, it is just unlikely).

Here is a mini-Grip (Ritter blade) from Knifeworks, with custom Allen Putnam custom scales (which you don't need, but can get later on fro Blade HQ).

Locutus, OP's price range is a about $60 right now! Ain't finding a Ritter for $60!

cchu 518,
Thorough my man, just thorough. Appreciate all the time spent and your interest. You have some nice blades and sounds like the Grip is the way to go, just a little high. I'll try to learn these other features on this site and look into a subscription. I just need more two of me, pressed for time right now. How much would you say a grip goes for?

Locutus D'Borg, that is a great pic and nice looking blade...about the right size and not obtrusive. Looks clean and simple. I likey.

Y'all ever try out an ESEE Zancudu -think I got that right. I am looking for the mini Grip on that site. How much does those run?

Since you're looking at ESEE, check around for an Izula.

It's a fixed blade, but small enough not to draw funny looks since it pretty well disappears in your hand during use.

They can be had for just under sixty, if you look around.

Had to make sure they're a BF dealer:

Yeah, I know, you said folder. Fixed blades are a little more durable, just in case...

Another vote for the Skyline. Although I love the Delica, lock backs are more prone to accumulating crud. Liner locks like the Skyline are easy to clean out (open construction) which would be important for a landscaper's working knife. I am a carpenter and my work knife is open construction, but above your price range. The Rat 2 is also an excellent choice.

You mention needing your knife to be sharp. Might I suggest you acquire a Spyderco Sharpmaker? No work knife stays sharp for very long by itself, and the Sharpmaker is a very easy way to maintain your knife in a sharp condition.

Find a Kershaw R.A.M.

Fast opening (faster than assisted), about the proper dimensions, and, well, it's all around amazing.

It is very easy to close one handed.

I can attest to that! I have a endura 4 which I found surprisingly easy to close one handed. Pardon me if I am mistaken, but I don't think the size difference will make the endura any harder to close.
I think I'd go for the BM mini grip if I were you. Ever since I bought my BM710, I'm no longer interested in any locks other than axis. It's a really reliable system, and no fuss about excessive lock up (like my Boker mini vanquish) which makes it a pain to close. And the factory edge should be screaming sharp, or at least that's what I've got on mine.

Thanks Bill1170, I'll get one. Several have posted props to the Skyline. I'm trying to find some time to pick up my search again.

Y'all, I went to a local outdoor store and played with the BM mini-grip. I couldn't believe smooth and quiet the locking mechanism was. I personally found it more difficult to open than a Kershaw with the index flip deals. I am just not used to it, but I don't think it would take very long. I really liked the size. It seems a bunch of us like assisted openers between 2.5 and 3". Really appreciate all the input and still having fun. I am beginning to see that it is difficult to pick just one, simply because there are so many uses. For me I am just currently looking for that workday EDC that I can use in the field and have a gentleman look when going into client's homes or offices...look professional. It is more important for me to feel right about using it, fitting in my hand, and being light weight, but also I just don't want to be intimidating. Leaning toward the BM mini-grip, found it for $65 on-line.

Cereal_killer,
I have been looking for that BM mini-grip with sheepsfoot with hole, can't find it anywhere on web. Got any suggestions with good price, also?

Cereal-killer,
I apologize, I found some sheepsfoot mini-grips, I just can't read. I think this is what I'm going to get. Thanks, also Sigmazxcs for the confirmation. It all started with Down to another question that . Thanks, Shorttime, I was actually considering an ESEE Car or Izul before I started with this site. never considered a fixed blade, but just thought about the rough conditions I am in and what I would put the knife through. I may get one also and just keep it in the truck.

Somebody here said that the BM mini-grip was a tad too thick for an EDC. Any of you experience that also? I would like a thin blade to boot, but so far this I seem to be leaning toward the BM mini grip. I will look into the Ontario Rat 2 also cuz its cheap and if you are in construction you know that is important because it will get roughed up.

O.K. I'm tired of mess' n around. I'm just going to make my decision and.........drum roll....:D a BM min grip with sheepsfoot it is. Now for the some other news....hope this is O.K...what about a AA mini flashlight with good throw. Looking at a Sunwayman V11R, but would like one that throws farther. I'm trying to get my EDC on. Tired of lugging 50 things in my pockets, and consolidating my gear (tools). I currently carry a SOG power assist when I work, but it's heavy. I'd rather leave it in the truck and just take it when I know I'm going to be roughing it. Thanks, thanks, and thanks. Also looking for an automatic watch with a black face, that looks simple and under $100. And more thanks.

Can anyone also tell me what the best way is to view this current thread. I seem to get back here a different way each time. What do I need to do to simply view the latest post from y'all?

I found a new BM mini-grip 555, for $65 plus shipping? Is that a good price? It comes with a blue handle. Can anyone help me where to find another color or are they called scales? Somebody mentioned that. Dumb question, but can you put a smaller handle or scale on a blade so that you can do the Kershaw index flip thing? I really think that makes opening real easy. And where also could I find a deep clip. Or does anyone just let that ride without a clip? That ought to do it for awhile until I can read reposes, sorry for being long winded. One of my daughters made me some coffee earlier and it gave me new life. Adios, hasta le noche mis tacos.

You can dye the scales if you don't like the blue.

And check this video out to pick up some pointers on how to open and close the Griptilian:
