Questions for you pros. Newbie searching for EDC, Specs listed

Some might argue your Leek is the perfect Gent's folder! A lot of folks actually.

I got a shallot and I thought the AO is amazing.
True enough, it is an amazing system, but ever since I adopted the BM axis lock, I hated the AO! It's funny how exposure to knives can change your perception and preference! Try out some knives from friends or fellow members on BF and you'll eventually find something that fits you just right.

And a great knife doesn't have to be expensive either. Just so happened that my favorite is quite expensive at $124. :/

Wow, Sigmazxcs, we really are blessed, putting the ownership in perspective. Congrats on the new one coming. One of the biggest joys to life. Is it illegal to carry a pocket knife there in Singapore?

Thanks man! Certainly is! He'll be such a wonderful addition. My dad will be all over that kid. :)
And yes, it's illegal to carry knives in Singapore. As illegal as assaulting a police. You can get jailed and fine for CARRYING a knife. Yes, carrying, i'm not even talking about using it in public.
Singapore seriously needs to chill out and stop stereotyping everyone as serial murderers just because we EDC a knife. Sheeples.

Y'all know what it is already? I never found out on any of mine. Every one is a blessing... a trial, but a blessing. How did you end up in Singapore? Are you from there? Speaking of knives. I was thinking about doing a new thread. I have never done this before. It is Saturday, 12:24 am here in Texas, what time is it there? My favorite knife I own right now is my Leek. I am looking at getting the BM mini grip real pronto, maybe tomorrow or Monday. I just got paid from a client doing landscape work, so I was going to get a new blade and also look at a new flashlight. I posted a long reply to everyone earlier today, and man I must have not saved it, b/c I don't see it. That's no good. I'm spent and will have to do it tomorrow. Anyone have any good flashlight recommendations that will throw about 400-500'? I don't know what size I would need, but a A or AA would be preferable, so I can EDC it. I'll try to post my BM when I get it, too. Y'all know of a good place for inexpensive lights is on the web? I found one place, but have since lost my way. I am also considering getting a paid membership to purchase, I am just getting used to doing this and really haven't studied even the features on this site, yet. I

I'm a local Singaporean. Not an American! It's exactly 12 time zones away, so I'm ahead of you guys by 12 hours.
You should really post some photos soon! Can't wait to see your new purchase! If I'm not mistakened, knife center is pretty cheap for BM. Or Knifeworks. Either one.

Lights wise, you might wanna try your luck on candlepowerforum to get some inputs. Then you might want to Spend a little time on the exchange and wait for a good deal.
Dont think we would want this thread to be closed due to off topic! :p

I will show y'all my BM mini grip this week, Lord willing. I will order it tomorrow. I don't think I will do any upgrades like scales for awhile. I just want to get used to flipping it. So, it may be boring to some because y'all all know what they look like, but for me, it's a new experience. I've still been switching between 2 Kershaws, the Leek and the Scallion. It doesn't appear that they have a real big following on this forum. I'm new to getting into knives, so I didn't know any better. I have been impressed with the Leek. It is real easy to open and real sharp. It is not as refined, like, more of an idex finger stop or safety, or groove for your thumb. It is basically a straight knife. It is all I got right now, so I'm using it until I order the mini.

Back in the saddle y'all. I've been busy at work and still haven't sat down to order my new knife, yet. Perhaps I will this evening. Still looking at the BM mini grip. I've been EDC ing my Leek and occasionally my Kershaw Scallion. That knife is nice, but too small for me. I also don't care for the plastic feeling scales. The blade is nice, but not as much usable length. Anyways, anyone still around. I've dropped a bunch of subject bombs last week. I'll try to stick to knives, unless y'al take it somewhere else, like Sigmazxcs, suggested. Can y'all tell me what the Doug Ritter blade is and what should I expect on the mini grip out of the box. Out. As truckers say, which I'm not, although I drive a truck, "Come Back."

The Ritter gives you better steel. The stock steel is already really good though.

Delica mini grip and Rat 2. These are all smooth opening and close and should be your three choices. I would just pull the trigger on one. I just got a Delica in. The lockback once depressed drops the blade loose to freely swing kinda like the axis lock. It is thinner in handle material and very ergonomic. And it fits AWESOME in the pocket. In terms of EDC it's really hard not to love all three. Now I'm jonesing for the Rat 2 but I already have more knives than I can use...

cchu518,
Thanks again for pics. That help a lot. I can tell the 2nd from the top is a mini grip and the bottom one is the Kershaw. Can you tell me the other two? How do you feel about your Delica, compared to your mini grip?

I have the thumbstud mini grip version. Really compact stout knife. The blade is sabre ground and strong. Do you see the little swedge shape in it and the cryo? The spyderco is much more compact and the finger grooves are really comfortable. Ergonomically I like it better than the mini grip. But personally I would pick up a mini presidio or benchmade sequel knowing what I know now. Nothing wrong with the grip. The axis lock is a beautiful thing but since I don't hard use things the delicate for me would be the easier one to edc. Whereas the mini grip has the better locking mechanism. Plus a ffg blade will always slice better than a swedge. Ultimately if you are starting to dig knives if you buy one brand it won't be long before you will want to try out other brands so its all moot in that sense. :-)
