R.I.P Holger Enge aka Cockroachfarm

Holger was a great guy to deal with and he really knew how to make a transaction a little more fun than usual. I'm saddened by this loss to the Bladeforum community. Not seeing his posts will really be strange...he liked the good stuff too:thumbup:

I wish I had been fortunate enough to have met him,
I was just listening to this song the other day, I hope noone minds me posting it.

Tragically Hip - Heaven is a Better Place Today

Here's a glue guy performance god
a makeshift shrine newly lain sod
hardly even trying gives the nod
I sure hope I'm not the type to dwell
hope I'm a fast healer fast as hell
heaven is a better place today because of this
but the world is just not the same
if and when we get into the endzone
act like you've been there a thousand times before
don't blame don't say people lose people all the time anymore.

A toonie to the busker and a husky 'keep it comin' under my breath
but then said, 'though, if you wouldn't mind,
less crying and more trying more trying and less crying'
I'm not the type to dwell
I'm a fast healer fast as hell
heaven is a better place today because of this
but the world is just not the same
oh if and - if and when we get into the endzone
act like you've been there a thousand times before
don't blame don't say people lose people all the time anymore.

If and when we get into that endzone
act like you've been there a thousand times before
don't change but don't say people lose people all the time anymore.

It's just not the same because of this
It's not the same

That is truely some sad news. Many condolences to all who knew him.

I was very shocked and saddened to hear that Holger Enge had passed away. I met Holger just over 7 years ago in Toronto at a Canadian Knifemakers Guild show...It was the first knife show I had ever attended and Holger bought the first knife I sold at my first show. I always looked forward to seeing him at the Blade and CKG shows. He was a very kind and caring person who always went out of his way to help others...never asking for anything in return.
Holger...you will truly be missed. Rest in Peace.

The first time I met Holger was at one of our 'Every Other Tuesday' meetings. He brought a small holdall bag and produced wonderful knife after wonderful knife from pouches, boxes, and knife rolls. On the way home I calculated he had brought $10,000 of knives for me to look at and play with.

I also met Enger at the Canadian Knifemakers Guild show in Mississauga in 2007. I was surprised he remembered me, but he did and remembered me by name.

The final time I met him was when he came to the restaurant where I work with a friend for lunch. Of course he brought knives for me to look at including a Bud Weston knife I was going to buy (for the price he bought it), but never got around to getting the deal sorted. I also remember the most wonderful pretty miniature Japanese style knife with a gold dragon on the side of it. He was always very free to share the fruits of his passion of collecting knives.

Holger was a very clever man, a true gentleman and someone I will miss very much. 61 is far too young for anyone to go.

RIP Holger.

Sorry to hear of this.
Condolences to his family and friends.

I am truly in shock reading news of Holgers passing this is truly a sad day.
Holger purchased a small knife from me the very first show I attended when I was 17, I dont think he liked the knife all that much but he wanted to encourage me to contiunue making. That is the Holger I will always remember, going out of his way to help you succeed and asking nothing in return.

I will miss you my friend...
