R.I.P Vampire Gerbil

I'm very sorry to hear about this. I read about it last night and thought alot about it. I don't post a whole lot but I do read alot and I will miss Daves posts. My condolences to his family and friends.

I don't know how I missed this thread until now. I'm really sorry to hear of Dave's passing. He faced a lot of troubles, and always came out ready to laugh. I'm sure he's gone on to better times

I just talked briefly to Adele, who is Edith's sister-in-law (Stanley's sister). I called her to find out how Edith is holding up. I have already spoken to Edith twice today, and one phone call was very long as Edith needed to vent and to share the trials and tribulations of raising Dave from an infant up until a few weeks ago.

Adele said that Edith is doing very well, considering. While we were talking, Edith was calling her on her cell phone, so I said good-bye so they could talk.

I did ask about the autopsy. They are hoping to have it done today. That is fast.

They are coordinating the funeral arrangements between Pahrump and Victorville, California. Apparently Stacie is buried in Victorville and that is where her father lives. I wasn't aware of that. So Dave will be buried in Victorville. Victorville is about 60 minutes from my house.

The funeral service is tentatively planned for later in the week - next week. Dave's body will be brought from Pahrump to Victorville. Obviously, when I have more specifics, I will let you know the when and where, etc.

That is all I have right now. I plan to attend the funeral at this point in time. Depends on what day it is. Next Friday, one of my munchkin dogs is scheduled for eye surgery in San Diego and it is a critical surgery. The next appointment isn't until December 28th. Dave would understand. The aniimals come first the majority of the time.

With Dave being buried in Victorville, I will be able to take a roap trip that way every so often to say hi to him and to place some flowers or other favorite item of Dave's on his grave. And Victorville just happens to be right on the way to/from Las Vegas (I-15) from the Southern California area, so other BFC folks could stop by also. Or, there could be a mini Blade Victorville in Dave's honor every once in a while.

Anyway, more info as I get it from Edith.

Sorry to hear this. I know it was tough for VG, and the people who were taking care of him, for quite a while.

Judy (you wonderful person), holler if you need anything.

I'd been away from Bladeforums for a few years and returned the other day to read of Dave's difficulties. Now this evening I sign on and discover that he's passed...... :(

I just don't know what to say.

May he rest in peace.

I have known Dave for nearly thirty five years, the world has surely lost a good one. He was a great friend, and a pain in the A** sometimes too! He will surely be missed. I am and always will be proud to call him "friend"
Thank you Judy for all you've done, he was blessed to have people who cared around him.
Gonna miss you Dave.............

My sentiments also. I read this thread and then went to bed very sad. I enjoyed his devilish sense of humour with was evident in his postings. I would have liked to have met him. R.I.P. V.G.

Does anyone have any pictures of Dave that could be emailed to me? I am his cousin from CA and would really like pictures within the last 10 years. I'm so terribly sad and the photos I have are very old.

Thanks,
Cyndi

Tiffany, Welcome to BFC. I am so glad that you know how loved your father was by everyone who knew him here and also in person. I'm sure you also are quite aware how twisted his mind was and that was one of the things we loved about him.

There are so many posts of his here in BFC and many in the archives. Many people have already posted links to some of their favorite posts of the late and great Vampire Gerbil.

Over in Whine and Cheese there is a "sticky" thread where people have posted stories about your dad and links to some of his posts.

There are few people here on BFC who have had the memorable impact on the members that your father has had. He will definitely be missed. His presence here has already been missed since his first stroke. He did post a little, but it was difficult for him.

He has many friends here. If there is anything you need, just let us know. We're pretty good about taking care of our own. By extension, YOU are one of our own.

I missed Dave when he moved from NJ 6 or 7 years ago.
Truly one of a kind.
After he moved I saw him was when he came back to NJ for his daughter's graduation in 2002, and once or twice at Blade.
RIP bro, see you in awhile.

This has to be my all-time favorite VG pic. I snapped this at Blade 2003. We were roommates that year. I can tell you that it was quite an experience! I didn't stop laughing the whole time we were together. When he busted out the neck hatchet I knew that I was staring greatness in the face and a pic must be saved for posterity. Never did I think I would be looking back on it now knowing that he is no longer with us.
