Rambo Knives - Why so little talk

These Rules apply site wide so I believe that means they apply here? http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/announcement.php?f=746&a=98

"4. THREAD NECROMANCY IS HIGHLY DISCOURAGED. Do not bump threads that are older than 120 days. Send the seller a message instead via their profile page."

Also with just some common sense, one should realize responding to a thread with no activity for 9 years and to a member who hasn't logged on in 4 years is a bit silly.

To be fair, this is not a sale thread and Rambo content is timeless.

Somebody will always leap at the opportunity to point out to another that a thread is old, irrespective of whether the age of the thread has any bearing whatsoever on the actual content. Alternatively, somebody will always leap at the opportunity to tell another to "use the search function" or to reference one of "many threads which already exist". There is no winning on the internet; just do what makes sense to you and try not to have a Rambo reaction.

Also: let's see some pictures of sweet Rambo knives.
Also: the last Rambo movie kicks ass.

Often the mods are the ones to point these things out  And no, don't just do what you want here follow the rules.

Your and my interpretation of what Spark says is different then: "Rules For The Exchange & Discussion Forums - (All Rules Apply Site-Wide) UPDATED 3/1/14"

See where it says "Discussion Forums"? This would be that.

Haha. Well if the mods don't step in quick enough, there is always you. You see where you quoted "send the seller a message", right? Extrapolate.

Anyway, it looks like we have irreconcilable Rambo differences and need to get a divorce now. :(

I opened this thread hoping to see what people do with Rambo knives. Does anybody use them?

Wow, necrothread! WT.....

If You by 'Rambo knives' mean hollow handle knives in various guises, then yes.

But you are in the wrong place - GeeDee is not big on hollow handle knives:D

You want this thread - THE Hollow Handle Knife thread;
http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/1132950-THE-Hollow-Handle-Knife-Thread

BTW The movie Rambo is overrated.

Watch 'Ruckus' from 1980. It is basically the blueprint for 'Rambo.'

Surprisingly good for the time and budget.

What knife does the traumatized Vietnam Vet carry whilst escaping from the police on a dirt bike and running circles around them, I hear you ask? Why, a BUCK 110 of course!!!!!!!!:D:D:D

I'm trying to find "Ruckus" but no love on Amazon or Netflix. 110 on hand in case I find it :D

My order of favorite Rambo movies is:
1) Rambo (2008)
2) First Blood
3) Rambo 2
4) Rambo 3 (where he helps the Taliban against the Soviets )

Hey, I'm always here for when people spout inaccurate information

Again, see the part where he says "site wide" & "discussion forums"? And the part in Section 3 where he says "If any rules seem contradictory, the more stringent rules apply." ;)

I have no problem with Rambo knives! Just silly necrothreading and plain wrong information :)

Old thread or not, the Rambo knives are cool and are a benchmark in "survival knife" history. I got my first "survival" knife after seeing endless piles of Rambo knives at gunshows for sale. My choice was was actually an Ek back then which I still have. Now, Kabar owns the Ek trademark and is making them.

Some company could finally come forward and bring to life all Rambo knives in real usable and quality form, made of not overly expensive,(maybe 150-250 $ would do justice to price) but very tough, well heat treated steel. It's sad and shame that these iconic knives are today degraded to expensive wallhangers by both Master Cutlery and United Cutlery (despite being made out of garbage cheapest steel possible, even horribly crafted still priced at 110-120 $)...That's my opinion.

I see this thread is older than bladeforums :):):):) but somebody says here, these knives are timeless and I can not disagree. They were real inspiration to many today's knife-nuts, each of their design was milestone and breakthrough in knife industry and they influenced many knifemakers and companies over the decades.

Actually, the book came out in 1976 and there are 60's era survival knives with saw backs, so it is perfectly feasible that there were lots of sawbck knives being used in the falklands or any other war in 1982. And yes there were many for sale in the late 70's and early 80's. I was a kid and my dad got me one at a gun show in 1980-81. As for blade suction, I don't know, but I would agree with you that it is nonsense.

If you read the quote you'll see he mentions the knife maker and model: A Lile "Sly II": In early 1982 that is obviously nonsense...

As for the teeth catching upon stabbing, that is true, and, according to Cricketdave, it is especially bad in the ribcage of a feral pig... I would put the caveat that for defense you don't have to stab full depth, as the widest teeths, those most likely to hang up, would be the actual full width ones at the back...

Gaston

P.S. For some reason the Lile wood teeth on my "Sly II" had no dip in front, so unlike the "First Blood", and the "Mission" I have, these wood teeths were purely decorative, but I managed to get them "dipped" on mine in a way that looks consistent...
