Randall's Adventure & Training Survival Magazine

That was back when Larry Flynt owned SWAT. I wouldn't be too quick to rush to a conclusion on the who, what, when and where of this though ;) Keep in the back of your mind, Pelton and RAT....that's the driving force right now.

I was just commenting on the birth of a very cool magazine. Flynt is a wackaloon, but, hey, the old SWAT and FK were awesome magazines in their day. :D

Since you are close to Robert Pelton, while he is over there, see what kind of handcuffs he sees over there. I've been probing G.I.s for a few years now to see if I can get my hands on older Russian cuffs. There should be a lot of them in Iraq and Afghanistan...I need a pair for obvious reasons. :D

Probably not the reasons that first came to mind for me.... :D

The mag sounds like an awesome idea. Can't wait to see it. As for the humor section, I'd like to request that it be kept "G" rated so that my son can read it. Thanks.

We are still throwing concepts back and forth on this whole project, so it is evolving, but I'm pretty sure the final product will be unique and not just someone makign a hand drill fire in the woods ;)

For crying out loud, I was looking forward to that part!!!!

:D

I get so much junk mail, it is destroying the rain forests. But would subscribe to this magazine.

And funding my hobby! Long live junk mail!

As far as undertaking, it's alot of work, but it's not -that- big. And interest? Look at how Many running mags there are. "pu one foot in front of the other, quickly". I just covered it all, but they seem to make money :)

Great news, just hope it might reach our shores or else I will have to make another plan!

Jeff, I am truely amped about this idea. On one of my firts posts I asked if there was such a mag out. I was looking for a survival based mag without lots of gun reviews. I was told to check out SWAT. I have picked up a few issues of SWAT here & there, but really looking forward to a dedicated magaziine.

How to wipe your butt in the woods.

with a machete...

I'm in for some submissions!

can not wait to see how this project turns out, will it be similar to the old ASG mag ? I miss that magazine

OTB jungle boots suck. Katadyn Hiker water filters suck. Read the upcoming issues of SWAT Magazine. In fact read all the issues of SWAT magazine. There have been several things I've written about that suck.

On the other hand, the Garmin Venture HC is the best GPS I've used. I wrote about Magellan and how bad their new models SUCKED in SWAT magazine - in fact, I dedicated the WHOLE column to just how much they suck. You just ain't reading all the columns! ;)

This is totally awesome. A no BS survival mag:). I could not be happier with any other magazine.

I just hope that you talk about some things that dont suck too:p. LOL -I know a lot of stuff sucks though.

IMHO -this is the perfect time to put out a magazine with this kind of content. The "survival and tactics" market seems to be in a growth stage. TV shows like Bear Grylls and Survivorman; that show about how to survive disasters; and even kids growing up with gnarly war video games -I think there are all kinds of people who would be interested. ESPECIALLY if you throw in some hot chick-centerfolds wearing bikinis and tactical gear -kind of like Low-Rider magazine but no cars:D -and of course, no BS survival will be at the core. -I am $#iting my pants right now.

I love it too, definitly a nitch that needs some filling.

and the weath of topics that could be conveyed via that media, would be a benefit to all readers. please don't let it fall through sounds great.

"Honesty is such a lonely word..."
oups, that song again ?

Right now I'm reading RYP 1100 pages dangerous places book and Jeff & Mike Third World advices & tales... I can easily imagine how sharp that magazine gonna be. Unbiased and sharp !

Are you going to focus on a certain environment/climate (e.g. jungles) or do different regions (perhaps continents) and seasons? Are you going to base it all on your own experience or utilize "localized" experts to some extent?

In any case - sounds like a really awesome idea.
