I might have just scared the Amazon lady. I look like a hobo with my beanie on I haven't shaved in weeks and I was walking up to the door with Mark's knife as she was walking up to it from the other direction with a package. She muttered something and quickly shuffled back to her van.

Still happens today, not just in NY, and not just by some overzealous citizen, but occasionally by a LEO.

We need more "anti-gravity" folders. Like this one, where opening with centrifugal force is impossible.

You can wrist flick open a Szabo in a reverse grip. I think…
Bullshit, I guarantee I can wrist flick a stock one...almost ANY folder can be wrist flicked with the right technique and compression locks aren't even difficult.

You shivered her timbers, matey!

Yup.

Not familiar with that Spyderco, but the overzealous types would've grabbed it by the thumbhole and tried violently flailing it around, and if they finally managed to get it open just one time, BAM - charged.

***Read about someone getting charged for a Buck folder. The type that typically needs 2 hands to open, with that fingernail notch. Officer Friendly grabbed it by the blade with his thumbnail in the notch and repeatedly flailed around until he 'got it right' and the blade opened 🙄

P.S.
Haven't seen it, but I'm guessing there ISN'T a switchblade fight in the 2021 West Side Story remake?

IIRC, the 1961 movie was a BIG factor in switchblade bans across the US. Amazing that they didn't ban group dancing and singing too 🤣

Well, we are due to meet for a beer at some point anyways. Then you can show me. :) And I'll pay for the beer if you manage.

It's has nothing to do with the compression lock. The Szabo has a pretty strong "retention spring" inside one of the liners and attached to the tang pulling it closed. It's so strong that the knife can't be flicked, so many people cut the spring shorter. Google it, you'll find some more pics. Here is one (not mine):

Interesting...I didn't know about the additional spring on those, but I look forward to snapping it open for you when we meet up 😉
